LOMBARD — Due to the ongoing State of Illinois budget difficulties, the DuPage Senior Citizens Council (DSCC) will be forced to reduce its home delivered meals/“Meals on Wheels” and Community Dining programs in January, leaving thousands of DuPage County seniors without a safety net. Beginning January 11, 2016, DSCC will be forced to close its eight Community Dining sites and to reduce “Meals on Wheels” delivery to Mondays and Thursdays only. Each year, approximately $700,000 from the Illinois General Revenue Fund is specifically committed to home-delivered meals for vulnerable seniors in DuPage County. The State of Illinois has been operating without a budget since July 1 and DSCC has not received this funding. The agency has been using reserve dollars and other funding to keep the “Meals on Wheels” program running. However, these funds are now exhausted and DSCC can no
