BMO Harris Bank replaces appliances used by people with disabilities BMO Harris Bank has donated $8,000 to Ray Graham Association (RGA) for its Appliance Project, which aims to replace appliances throughout the year in its 23 community-based homes for people with disabilities throughout DuPage County. The homes provide a safe and welcoming place for nearly 150 adults with disabilities. Each year, appliances including refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, freezers, washers and dryers endure endless wear and tear and must be replaced. In an average year, RGA spends over $25,000 replacing appliances. Funding for these appliances is not covered by any other funding source and RGA must rely on donations to cover this cost. “BMO Harris has been a strong supporter not only of RGA, but also of other community-based agencies. They are incredible advocates of local philanthropy,” said Lorri Nagle, Chief Development Officer. Last year BMO Harris Bank donated $8,000 to purchase a Smart Board for RGA’s Community Learning Center located in Burr Ridge. The addition of the technology has helped people with disabilities stay current on news, navigate through the community and identify activities and attractions for people to participate in locally. Government funding only provides 77% of RGA’s costs to care for people with disabilities. The non-profit must raise over 1.5 million dollars each year to provide safe housing, employment opportunities, participation in community-based activities, and more in its five service divisions: residential, employment, life skills, recreational and family support.
