Community scavenger hunt Community Festival of Trees on display at Freeport Public Library Pick up a punch card at the first business that you visit. Visit a total of five of the nine businesses participating during Dec. 1 to 15 and have your card punched at each location. Turn your card in at the 5th business you visit and you will be entered in a drawing to win a prize from the Stockton FFA Chapter. The Stockton FFA Chapter will be holding the Community Scavenger Hunt again this year. The goal of this event is to promote shopping locally in Stockton for the holiday season. The event runs from Dec. 1 to 15. There are nine businesses participating this year including Glad Rags, Subway, JJ & Freddies, NAPA, Savvy Scavengers, Hartig Drug, Sullivan’s Foods, Spahn & Rose, and Ace Hardware.
Take some time this holiday season to view the FHN Community Festival of Trees entrants at the Freeport Public Library or online, and vote for your favorite through Saturday, Dec. 11. The FHN Community Festival of Trees brings not-for-profit organizations from across the area to decorate holiday trees, with cash prizes awarded by a panel of judges and the public. In accordance with COVID-19 precautions, this year’s trees are located a safe distance apart from each other and also can
be viewed online via a link www.fhn.org/festivalofat trees. The Community Festival of Trees is on display free at the Freeport Public Library through Thursday, Dec. 23. The Freeport Public Library is located at 100 E. Douglas Street in Freeport. The public is encouraged to vote for the People’s Choice Award winner at the library or online at the link above through Saturday, Dec. 11. The top vote-getter for People’s Choice will take home $500. The second-place award
for People’s Choice is $200 and the third-place People’s Choice award is $100. Ballots are available at the library and votes will be taken through the end of the library’s operating hours (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.) on Dec. 11. The formal panel of judges will award three prizes, as well. First prize is $500, second prize is $300, and third prize is $150.
