Stockton galleries to participate in All River Road Talent Small Business Saturday art drive By Tony Carton Editor
STOCKTON — Among the thirteen artist studios, galleries, emporiums and shops opening their doors for a newly implemented monthly regional art drive are two Stockton facilities, Ink & Paper and NW Designs Glass Studio. Why not hit the road, visit the artists and have a behind the scenes view of this amazing and talented group of area artisans at work. “We are going to be part of the All River Road Talent Art Drive on Small Business Saturday which is on Thanksgiving weekend,” said Ink & Paper owner Amy Laskye. “And, then the following weekend is our regular monthly All River Road art drive which is also the weekend of the Stockton Christmas Walk.” She said All River Road Talent is a group of like minded individuals that get together to help cross-promote studios and art throughout our area, and in recognition of the staged art drives, Ink and Paper will be open 9-3 on Saturdays for the events. “I have a couple other artists that are bringing things in, so not only will I have some of the things from earlier drives, but we are rotating some pieces in and out so when people come in they will see something a little different and not always the same art,” she said. work. “A lot of people don’t know about the talent we have in this area,” Laskye said. “How can you appreciate something you don’t know about? I hope the Stockton community comes out and supports art because creativity matters.” The Village of Stockton stands to gain from the project. “My marketing plan includes bringing increased tourism traffic to the downtown,” Laskye said. “I’m providing something
for our visitors to do and look at in addition to a bit of shopping. Also, it will be a place for visitors to experience the artistry of local craftsmen. Her first art drive featured works by a local glassblower, several area painters and photog-
raphers, a stone engraver and a number of artists that participated in this summer’s NW Illinois Art Fest in Stockton. “In the future, I do hope to have Meet the Artists days and I am expanding my coffee line, so folks can come in Ink & Paper
