Lena Area Special Event Runners (L.A.S.E.R) will be Rocking Downtown Lena as it hosts the annual Taste of Lena presented by the Village of Lena and FHN. This event will take on a new day of the week. This year, the event will be Sunday, Aug. 5, open to the public from Noon to 5 p.m. Registration for the car show begins at 10 a.m. with judging starting at noon. The Taste of Lena presented by the Village of Lena. This will include many fun filled activities for the whole family. The Rafters Restaurant and Catering and Community Bank Food Village will showcase many area restaurants and food vendors. Families are encouraged to stop by and try a taste of their wonderful samplings. Vendors at press time include: Rafters Restaurant and Catering, Café 217 Espresso and Bakery Shoppe, Stumpy’s, Benchwarmers with Wisconsin Cheese Curds, Route 20 Bar and Grill, Sullivan’s Foods, Manny’s Pizza, Hermes’ Popcorn, Hilldale Dairy, 312 Beef and Sausage, Little Johns.. The car show which has become something of a tradition will be featured again this year. Classes for the show and their sponsors include: 50’s by Pat Brown Realtors, 60’s by Klein Auto Repair, 70’s by Café 217 Espresso and Bakery Shoppe and Skid Steer Specialties, 80’s-Wagner Auto Supply and Sales,90’s + by Twisted Metal Collision Center. Stock Truck is sponsored by Corp Tire, Modified Trucks by Buss Boyz. Special Interest is sponsored by Full Throttle Power Sports and Hot Rods by Brandon’s Hardware. Best Paint is Koening Precision Paint and Body. Best of Show by Natural Healing Express/Silver Fox Broth and Tea Company. Entries can be taken the day of the Show,
with registration beginning at 10 a.m. or by calling Ron Fluegel at 815-238-1182. Dash plaques and goody bags will be gifted to the first 120 entries. Dash Plaques are sponsored by Brinker’s Pit Stop and Community Bank is sponsoring the goody bags. This year, a Dyno will be onsite. You will not want to miss it. Co-sponsors FS Fast Stop and Pearl City Elevator will host the entertainment area. On stage, the headline act will be Just for Kicks, a Rock and Roll band from Lena, Illinois. The FS Fast Stop and Pearl City Elevator entertainment stage will be located close to the beverage area where you can select beers from local breweries or your favorite on tap. The Lena Lions Club will be selling tickets for their annual raffle held on Fall Festival Weekend. Do y ou have y ours yet” Remember you cannot win unless you buy a ticket. The Lena Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and host a petting zoo from noon to two. Bring the little ones.
