Friendship Center celebrates twenty years of service The folks at the Friendship Center want to let you know who they are and what they do… Robin Woolcock is Program Director, and Denise Seuring is Program Nurse Leader. They work together to run the Friendship Center, an adult daycare. We are here to help you, or your loved one. What we specialize in is: socialization; home-cooked meals; doing activities like playing cards, doing puzzles or crafts; and monitoring medicines. Our goal is to help people live at home longer. We step in to help out when the family is unable to care for their loved one
during the day and the loved one can’t be left alone. We’re there for you even if you just need a bit of a break. We’re here to help. The Friendship Center is a fun place where we talk with our clients about what they enjoy doing and try to incorporate that into what we can offer for them. Each day is different. We have different staff, different cooks and volunteers, even different drivers. This makes each day unique. We attend the Friendship Club at Good Shepherd monthly for a potluck and musical entertainment. We also take field trips monthly usually May-October.
We have a Nurse and CNA available daily. We are open Monday through Friday 8am – 4pm. We have a handicap accessible bus and a van that pick up many of our clients. Others have chosen to use a county bus or their family may drop them off and pick them up. If you know anyone who could benefit from our services, please have them call Robin or Denise at 815-369-2690. After the initial contact, we set up a home visit to evaluate your loved one’s needs and do
initial paperwork. We offer a free visit so that the client may also have a day to evaluate the Friendship Center. We usually find it takes a little time to get us on their ‘schedule’. Most clients start with 1 day a week, then quickly progress to 2 or more days each week. The most frequent comment that we receive is that our clients “love coming to the Friendship Center”. In addition, we offer a Caregiver Support Group that meets at St. John’s Lutheran Church on the 2nd
Wednesday of each month at 1:00 pm. Our support group is open to all caregivers. Please join us. Our goal is to provide emotional support, information and resources to anyone who is a caregiver. If you know of anyone in this role, please share this information with them. You may be their only outlet to find out about this much needed support system. If you need someone to help watch your loved one, so that you can attend our meeting, contact the Friendship Center 815-369-2690.
