CORRESPONDENT

With the sweet song of spring beckoning around the bend, the LeWin Music teachers, students and Boosters are making big plans for a harmonious departure from winter’s chill! Special Sneak Peak for Solo & Ensemble Contest On Tuesday, March 3, the community is invited for a very special recital of Le-Win Junior High and High School music students’ solo and ensemble performances. “This recital is a rare opportunity for the public to see our talented music students perform a diverse array of arrangements, many chosen by the students themselves, in a smaller, more intimate setting,” said Band Director Renee Schultz. “This event is one of the music department’s ‘best kept secrets.’ We’d like to see not only students’ family members but their friends, classmates and neighbors attend this recital.” The recital also allows the high school students the opportunity to fine tune their entries before performing them four days later on Saturday, March 7, at the IHSA solo and ensemble contest in Stockton. Upcoming Concerts Mark your calendars for the following concerts at the Le-Win Fine Arts Center: • Thursday, March 19, at 6:30 pm: Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten & 2nd Grade Concert and Art fair • Sunday, April 26, at 3:00 p.m. Jr. High & High School Spring Choir Concert • Wednesday, April 29, at 7:00 p.m. Jr. High & High School Spring Band Concert Additionally, the NUIC Conference Music Festival will take place on Friday, March 20, in Dakota with select high school band and choir students taking part. show will feature some of Le-Win’s finest high school stage performers as well as up-and-coming talent from the jr. high and elementary in an 18-member children’s chorus. “This is a beautiful musical adaptation of the story by Natalie Babbitt. Set in 19th century New Hampshire, this incredible tale deals with themes of coming of age, love, loyalty, family, and being truly alive,” said Director Ali Stachowicz.
