Holiday cheer abounds in Lena Parade, decorating contests set
Santa’s elves have been working overtime to bring Christmas cheer to the village of Lena. With a little help from the Lena Business and Professional Association, the Jolly Old Elf himself is coming to town on Friday, Dec. 4, for a lighted parade while making adjustments for COVID-19. “It’s been a tough year for our businesses and residents, so we were as committed as ever to find safe ways to light up the village with holiday cheer,” said Ryan Buss, an LBPA member and owner of Buss Boyz Customs. “Everyone has gone that extra mile to plan an event that is full of Christmas spirit but provides peace of mind during these unprecedented times. We are all motivated by this year’s theme, ‘We Need a Little Christmas!’”
Enjoy the parade Featuring a new starting point, the lighted parade will line up at Lion’s Park and begin at 6 p.m. Dec. 4. From there, the parade will: • head south on Washington Street to Railroad Street • continue down Railroad Street • turn on Vernon Street and cross the railroad tracks • turn left on to Main Street, ending at the Village Hall. Santa and Mrs. Claus will bring up the end of parade. Once they reach the Community Tree on Main Street, Santa will light the tree. “The expanded route will allow residents more space to spread out as they enjoy the festivities,” Buss said. “Some of our businesses plan to be open around town, so this presents a fun opportunity to support our local shops and do some Christmas shopping.”
