L.A.S.E.R. WINTERFEST PUBLIC RELATIONS

The Lena Area Special Event Runners (L.A.S.E.R.) is proud to announce they will again host their annual event, Winterfest, A Community Holiday, beginning Jan. 22, and culminating on Jan. 27. On Tuesday, Jan. 22, A Winter Fiesta / Taco Tuesday will be held at The Rafters Restaurant. All day specials will feature tacos, margaritas and tequila. The 2019 King and Queen Coronation will take place at the Rafters at approximately 7:30 p.m. The reigning King and Queen are Ken and Diane Fiedler. For more information, contact Jaime at The Rafters 815-369-5330. Wednesday, Jan. 23, will feature Downtown Lena. Many downtown businesses will be open late and feature in-store specials. Come visit, shop local and have a fun time. All businesses are invited to participate.

On Thursday, Jan. 24, a Prince and Princess of Winterfest contest will be held at Coach’s Golf & Grill. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m. with no fee required. Competition begins at approximately 6 p.m. Competition is open to Lena Area First through Fifth graders. Contestants are asked to dress in their winter best. This is designed to be fun and uplifting for all involved. The winners are asked to be available for community appearances such as the Lena Lions Fall Festival Parade. On Friday, Jan. 25, events include: the Scavenger Hunt, beginning at 7pm SHARP at the Lena Brewing Company. This event is a yearly highlight for many and winning this competition grants bragging rights for the whole year. We are hoping the champions are coming to de-

fend their title! Again!!! There is no charge to participate and many fun prizes will be awarded. For more details contact Roger at 815-238-7888. On Saturday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m., a pie-baking contest will be held at the American Legion Home hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary. A brand new event will be held this year beginning at 1:30 p.m. The Frosty Balls Beer Relay Race will commence at 101 Billiards, travel through the Iron Horse Tap and culminate at Mulligans. This .5K “race” is designed to be a relay race with teams consisting of three people (21 and over). Entry fee is $20 per team and prizes will be awarded. For More Details contact Marsha at Mulligans

On Sunday, Jan. 27, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. a Soup Tasting will take place at the American Legion Home, hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary. Also, on Sunday, Jan. 27, the Fourth annual SnowCar at the Rafters International Speedway will commence from NOON-5 p.m. Local celebrities will be participating during the competition! Cars will be in tech at Noon and the Race will commence at approximately 1:15 p.m. Some businesses will be sponsoring “Snowcars” along with their choice of a local driver. When one

last car is remaining in operating condition or the Master of Ceremonies declares a “winner”, the competition will end and the SnowCar Team will earn the Title of SnowCar Master. There is no charge to witness this hilarious event. Please bring your own chairs. Last year, there were so many laughs; it was hard to take it all in.
