Algonquin Police Officer retires after 26 years of service

Officer Eicherl began his career with the Algonquin Police Department in June 16, 1993. Starting out as a Patrol Officer, he quickly advanced to specialty areas including Field Training Officer, Officer-In-Charge, Firearms Instructor, and Bicycle Patrol. He was also involved in the department’s Traffic Unit, distinguishing himself with many traffic safety awards. Most notable of Officer Eicherl’s accomplishments was his sevenyear commitment to APD’s K-9 unit. Together with K-9 Officer Duke, between 2001 and 2008, they conducted numerous searches for drugs in various situations and assisted in tracking suspects. His dedication to the residents and visitors of the Village of Algonquin and his passion for service has been a positive influence on all the lives he’s touched.
