Day Out with Thomas is pulling into the Illinois Railway Museum All aboard! Thomas the Tank Engine invites little engineers to join him and his best friend Percy for a day of big adventures and even bigger memories at Day Out with Thomas: The Steam Team Tour 2019. Children everywhere are invited to spend the day with their friend Thomas when the #1 Engine and Percy pull into Union, Ill. on one last weekend of July 20 to 21. A Day Out with Thomas: The Steam Team Tour 2019 is presented by Mattel. This fun-filled event offers children and their families the opportunity to take a ride with Thomas the Tank Engine and Percy, stars of the popular Thomas & Friends series. In addition, they will meet Sir Topham Hatt, Controller of the Railway and enjoy a day of Thomas-themed activities including crafts, photo ops, and much, much more. The tour, now in its 23rd year, will make 42 stops across the U.S. and Canada and is expected to welcome nearly one million passengers in 2018. Five arrested in relation to a stolen vehicle The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of Zishawn Hunt, 19, Amil Little, 19, Izerion Cooper, 19, Maurice Dixon, 19, and a 15-year-old juvenile after they fled from a stolen vehicle in the Crystal Lake area Monday afternoon. At about 3:21 p.m. on July 8, Sheriff’s Deputies observed a 2015 Dodge Durango in the area of Route 31 and Rakow Road in Crystal Lake. Zishawn Hunt Amil Little A license place check revealed that the Durango was a stolen vehicle reported out of Pleasant Prairie Wisconsin. The Deputies attempted to stop the Durango in the area of Route 14 and Manor Road and the vehicle fled from them. The Durango was located a short distance away on the Route 14 bridge over Route 31 with all the occupants having fled from the vehicle. Witnesses told the Deputies Izerion Cooper Maurice Dixon that six subjects had fled from the Durango in two different directions. Sheriff’s Deputies, Crystal Lake Police Officers, Crystal Lake Park District Police Officers, Cary Police Officers, and two Sheriff’s K-9 units helped assist with the search. At the end of the search five of the six suspects were located and arrested. The investigation is on going with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Pleasant Prairie Police Department. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Brake Parts Inc. receives Benchmark Award from United Way Brake Parts Inc (BPI) was recently honored by the United Way of Greater McHenry County with the Benchmark Award for raising more than $272,000 during its annual campaign, which helps support 29 partner agencies in the area. BPI was recognized during United Way’s campaign celebration held June 4 at Starline Factory in Harvard. “The challenges in our local community for those people less fortunate are significant, and the United Way actively works to enhance their quality of life,” said David Overbeeke, president and CEO of BPI. “I am so proud of the BPI employees that gave so generously again this year as it helps tremendously to fund the many agencies driven to assist those in need.”

BPI has been the largest contributor to the United Way of Greater McHenry County for several years running and has received major donor awards a total of seven times. Before receiving the Benchmark Award last year for donations exceeding $200,000 in 2017, BPI received the Landmark Award five times for raising $100,000 or more during their United Way campaign. BPI has partnered with the United Way for over a decade, and during that time, has donated in excess of $1.6 million.
