Police make another arrest in connection with murder/home invasion

Anyone with information regarding the incident, or the offenders involved, is asked to call the McHenry County Major Investigation Assistance Team Tip Line. Those wishing to provide their name for a tip or information that leads to the arrest of the offenders will be forwarded to the McHenry County Crime Stoppers for a reward of up to $5,000. No further information will be released at this time as the case remains active. Charles A. Campo was charged with the following: 1 Count of 1st Degree Murder (Class M Felony) 1 Count of Home Invasion (Class X Felony) 1 Count of Residential Burglary (Class 1 Felony) Bond: $5,000,000 Next Court Date: to be determined

Environmental Defenders’ recycling drive set for July 8 in Marengo The Environmental Defenders will hold its next monthly drive in Marengo on Saturday, July 8, from 9 a.m. to noon (or until truck is full): Marengo City Hall, 132 E. Prairie St., Marengo. For information on future drives, please go to www.mcdef.org/recycling. Donations offset the costs of transportation and fees charged to Environmental Defenders of McHenry County by recyclers who separate materials and make them ready for future use. Environmental Defenders of McHenry County is a local non-profit, and receives no government funding to offer this service to the community. Items accepted are: Electronics – (anything that plugs in or runs on batteries. A charge of $.50 per pound but not exceeding a maximum of $40 for each TV or computer monitor.) Fluorescent tubes ($.50 to $1 each depending on size) Batteries (household, rechargeable, car, and button ($.50 per pound) Cloth items—clothing, linens, or just plain rags, clean and in a bag. You can also bring shoes, tied together by their laces and placed in the bag. Clean Styrofoam – all colors Re-useable bubble wrap VHS & cassette tapes, CDs, DVDs and floppy disks Special electronics recycling drives are also scheduled for those who live in McHenry Township for: July 15, Aug. 19, Oct. 21, and Nov.18. McHenry County Sheriff Bill Prim announced the arrest of Charles A. Campos, 31, of McHenry in connection with the Home Invasion / Murder that occurred on May 27. On June 15, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the McHenry County Major Investigation Assistance Team (MIAT), with the support of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, formally charged Campo. Campo is the second suspect arrested in connection with the Home Invasion and Murder of Donald Jouravleff. Jouravleff had been shot in his home, in the 1800 block of W. Davis Ave., around 1 a.m. on May 27. Jouravleff succumbed to his injuries later that night. Preliminary investigation indicated two masked men were responsible for this shooting. Investigators worked tirelessly and developed suspects in connection to this crime. On June 15, Campo was taken into custody. Sheriff Prim stated; “This is further evidence of the determination and excellence of the investigators involved in this case. It reflects the continued pursuit to bring justice and resolution for this heinous crime.” This investigation remains extremely active by the Sheriff’s Of-
