arinades and vinaigrettes help make almost any meal a little tastier. Many can be purchased already mixed and bottled and found in the grocery aisles. Sometimes, buying untasted, we find that we do not like it, and it sits – unused - in the refrigerator until past its ‘use by’ date. For those who are tires of wasting their money, there is a unique shop in downtown Crystal Lake called ‘The Olive Tap’. “You can taste what you are getting before you buy it,” owner Robert Sherry says. Located at 68 N. Williams Street in Downtown Crystal Lake, this store is an olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting emporium. It is set up so that visitors can sample taste each of the products to decide which they prefer before they buy. “Purchases are bottled from the same tank, so you get exactly what you like.” Robert “Bob” and Lori Sherry opened the Crystal Lake location of The Olive Tap on August 1, 2012. It began when Bob quit his job. The company he worked for down-sized. While Bob kept his

Crystal Lake South High School neighbors to receive settlement By Samantha Fetzner Reporter

CRYSTAL LAKE — After filing suit seeking just under $316,500 in attorney fees last month, attorneys for the neighbors of Crystal Lake South High School and District 155 have agreed on a final number to resolve the lawsuit for the bleachers. The final number awarded to the plaintiffs for attorney fees in the case is $273K, just over $30,000 less than what was asked for originally. The parties met and came to a resolution on Mon. Feb 8. The District’s insurance will be covering the funding for said amount. The fees will help pay for the time put into the case over the course of two plus years, accounting for nine representatives (three paralegals, six

attorneys) and various other expenses incurred. The resolution comes after the announcement by Crystal Lake City Council at the beginning of February granting approval for District 155’s revised bleacher plans. The bleachers have been reduced to nine rows on the side closest to neighboring homes already. The present order requiring full demolishment has been put on hold and will be ruled on early in March. The school is hopeful the order will be removed in light of the zoning approval. The financial agreement was quite a stretch for the District. Approximately $240,000 separated the original proposed numbers. District 155 attorneys proposed approximately $78,500 be awarded when the original request was brought

forth. The final awarded amount more than tripled their proposal. The specifics of what was struck or reduced were not available to the public. The original proposal from Tom Burney and his associates who represented the plaintiffs did not include any of their mileage or travel time in relation to the case. Had those been included, the number would have been even higher. The current zoning approval calls for the physical bleacher situation to be resolved with construction upon approving a bid. Plans call for construction to begin in the Spring once the weather improves. The District hopes that the whole situation would be resolved and new construction completed by the time football season begins in the Fall of 2016.
