Farm Stroll a Hit!

By Anne Eickstadt, Correspondent

T

he Master gardeners of McHenry County developed their 1st Annual Farm Stroll with no idea how popular it would be. With only 5 hours to visit 11 farms, I had to be very selective which ones to choose so I picked farms located within a small area. Prairie Sky Orchard at 4914 North Union Road, Union, is so packed full of people that cars are jockeying for parking spaces and parking next to ditches. The owners and employees are so busy with regular customers and Farm Stroll visitors that I can’t even get close enough to ask questions. www. prairieskyorchard.com This is wonderful. The Farm Stroll is a huge success. Cherry Lane Farm at 18317 Garden Valley Road, Marengo, is next on my tour. It is owned by Trudi Temple, author of ‘Trudi’s Garden: The Story of Trudi Temple, Founder of Market Days’. Temple is a celebrated gardener, author and speaker. She came to the United States from Germany in 1963. “I am NOT a war bride,” she says. See FARM STROLL, Page 2

lain Henry Deadwood has invited his ‘unsightly’ relatives to party all night long in the park. To date, no wagonload of visitors has been able to cap-

ture Deadwood. “Visitors will travel through 17 haunting scenes witnessing the cause and effect of Henry Deadwood and his wild parties.” This event

McHenry Area JayCees Haunted House: at Knox Park Barn, 300 South Route 31, McHenry, IL. $10 Friday/ Saturday, $8 Thursday/Sunday. Hours: 7:30- “until the last victim crawls out.” In the dark of night, come the howls and snarls from the barn on the hill.
