In March, I started working a week a month in-office again for my full-time job editing and writing in the Washington, D.C. area.Planting snow peas a couple of weeks later than usual, didn’t hurt their yields. They were blooming by June 11, and we were harvesting 30 lbs. a pick ing by the end of June.
If a season turns hot and dry early, we can enjoy as little as 2 weeks harvesting early-planted snow peas. This season’s spates of hot, steamy days, gratefully
yielded to plentiful rain. That kept our peas yielding through most of July.
Some seed varieties spring to life in cold, wet conditions. Others take weeks longer to mature in long hot days of sum mer. All plants, like people, yield finally to killing frosts and hardening of ground and dead of

Cool nights dipping into the 50s and speedy passing of La bor Day, reminded me further that another lifetime for all plants is drawing to a close.
Sarah Kuta’s lovely writing for Smithsonian, this past week shared the 2022 fall foliage map of SmokyMountains.com.
I mowed a garden path along those lush plants in the past week, marveling at how their presence reveals in September no trace of this same growing season’s peas.

At approximately 7:26 a.m., Deputies responded to the W7200 block of Franklin Rd., Town of Clarno, for a re port of a single vehicle crash. Investigation determined the operator, Mario A. Cuz-Xo, 20, of Freeport, was south bound on Steiner Road when he attempted to turn eastbound onto Franklin Road. Cuz-Xo failed to negotiate the turn and entered the north ditch, strik ing a telephone pole. Mario was not injured and reported wearing his seatbelt. At 8:03 p.m., deputies re sponded to the N1300 block of CTH HK, Town of Cadiz, for a report of a one vehicle crash with no injuries. Investigation found the driver Gavin Rich ards, 21, of Madison, was trav eling west bound on CTH B and began to turn south bound onto CTH HK where the vehi cle had lost traction due to the loose gravel along the road way. The vehicle entered the west ditch where it tipped on its passenger side and came to a rest. Richards and his pas sengers, claimed no injuries and were wearing their safety belts.The vehicle had sustained disabling damage, air bag de ployment, and was towed from the scene. Richards was cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle and was released with a non-mandatory court date.

Domestic abuse:
At approximately 12:05 a.m, deputies, New Glarus EMS, and the New Glarus Fire Department responded to the W7700 block of County Highway H, Town of York, for a report of a one vehicle, rolloverInvestigationcrash. determined the operator, Mackenzie A. Scott, 21, of Woodford, was traveling west on CTH H, when she stated she looked at her phone. While doing this, her vehicle entered the north ditch and struck a culvert. This caused her vehicle to go airborne and strike a utility pole. Scott’s vehicle came to a rest in the north ditch after sustaining disabling damage with no airbag deployment. Her vehicle was towed from the scene. Scott reported wearing her seatbelt and sus tained minor injuries. She was transported for medical ser vices by a private vehicle.
At approximately 4:27 P.M., deputies responded to the 2800 block of 6th Sreet in the City of Monroe, to arrest Sebastian D. Streiff, Monroe, 20, on a Department of Cor rection probation hold. He was transported to the Green County Jail where he was in carcerated.

The man, Randall S. Zu ber, 44, of Brodhead, was subsequently arrested for an outstanding warrant through the Department of Correc tions as well as one charge of Felony Bail Jumping. Randall was transported to the Green County Jail where he will be held pending his initial court appearance.
At approximately 9:40 P.M., Deputies and the Brod head Police Department re sponded to the Brodhead EMS garage, for a report of an intoxicated male subject that walked in through an un locked door.
Tuesday, Sept. 6
The motorcycle that passed on the right side ended up striking the truck’s mirror. The motorcycle started to wobble, but the operator was able to regain control and con tinued south without stopping. Wilt, and his passenger, were not injured and were wearing seatbelts. There was no airbag deployment. The truck sus tained minor damage to the right mirror and was driven from the scene. The suspect motorcycle was not located.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of Warren Street, Village of Albany, for a report of a two vehicle accident with no injuries. During the investi gation it was learned a vehicle operated by Sheila A Green, 58, of Albany, was backing from her driveway when she struck a mail truck operated by Robert S. L. Parr, 34, of Janes ville. Green and Parr both denied injury, both reported wearing seat belts, and neither had airbag deployment. The vehicles sustained moderate damage.

At approximately 9:54 P.M. deputies responded to the N1500 block of STH 69 in the Town of Clarno for a vehicle versus cow crash. During the investigation dep uties learned a vehicle driven Preston E. Kroll, Freeport, Illinois, 35, was traveling south when he observed sev eral head of cattle standing on the road. He tried to brake and swerve around them, but collided with one. Kroll was the only occupant and was wearing a seatbelt. There was no airbag deployment. Kroll was not injured. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.

Jones and his passenger were not injured, they were wearing seatbelts, and the airbags did not de ploy.The bus sustained very minor damage. The vehicle operated by Brady sustained minor damage. Both vehicles were drivable.
