Knox taught in Monroe district
A Monroe School District teacher will take over as Albrecht Elementary School principal as of July 1. Current Albrecht Principal Dave Novy will be moving into the role of district superintendent. Kelly Knox was chosen from a field of 28 principal candidates, five of whom went through formal interviewing for the position, according to a Brodhead School District news release. The school board approved Knox’s starting salary of $95,000 at its June 9 meeting, according to the unofficial meeting minutes. Knox has 13 years of public school experience, including the last eight years as a second-grade teacher at Parkside Elementary School in Monroe, the release said. Knox also served as a Title 1 interventionist for three years and as a second-grade teacher for two years in the Beloit School District. Knox holds a master’s degree from Concordia University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She also holds licenses as a reading
teacher and as a director of instruction, the release said. “The district conducted a formal search process Kelly Knox for the principal vacancy to ensure that the best available candidate would be chosen to lead Albrecht elementary,” the release said. “After a thorough review of candidate qualifications and impressions formed by the interview team, the board offered the principal position to Mrs. Knox.” “We are extremely excited to welcome Kelly to our district … ” Novy said in the release. “Her strong literacy background, knowledge in target-based learning and her elementary-level experiences make her a wonderful fit for our school. “We are confident that Mrs. Knox will continue the many great things we currently have in place at Albrecht and look forward to her bringing new ideas to make a great school even better.”
