Kelch adds two more aircrafts to its collection
The Rose Parrakeet Aviator Larry Steenstry of Elkhorn donated his original homebuilt Rose Parrakeet to the Kelch Aviation Museum. Based on the 1929 design, the donor built this red-andblack biplane in 1996; over the years, he flew it to countless midwestern fly-ins, where it won numerous awards. 1938 Rearwin 8500 Deluxe Longtime museum supporter Jim Hammond of Yellow Springs, Ohio, donated his 1938 Rearwin 8500 Deluxe in January. An elegant, slender red monoplane, this Rearwin spent much of its life in the Midwest. The Kelch Aviation Museum welcomed two “new” vintage planes to the hangars located at N2463 Airport Road, in Brodhead. “We’re honored to care for these planes, and can’t wait to put them on display for the summer,” Pat Weeden, executive director, stated in a press release. The Rose Parrakeet and 1938 Rearwin 850 Deluxe were donated on Dec. 31, 2021 and Jan. 1 respectively. Here’s a bit about the aircrafts:
