Week of the Young Child is April 16-20 We celebrate and salute children and the providers that are promoting quality care in children’s formative years. This year the theme days include: Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Work Together Wednesday, Arsty Thursday and Family Friday. Science, Language, Math, Art, fine and gross motor skills, social skills, creativity, imagination and lots of fun are loaded into this week of activities! Childcare Provider I’m a Job Creator because: • I provide quality and dependable care to Wisconsin’s workforce. Employees with young children struggle to find affordable and dependable care causing them to take off more time and leave jobs. This costs businesses $3 billion annually. (National Women’s Law Center, 2017) • I provide high quality early childhood care and education which enables parents to be stable, reliable and productive employees. • If my program closed 6 families could potentially lose their jobs because they would have no child care. • I am providing a strong start to the work force of tomorrow. My students will be more socially/emotionally/ intellectually prepared to enter the workforce than children who don’t
have access to a high quality early childhood experience. I’m a Brain Architect because • The children in my care are creating 700 new neural connections in their brain every second! • A baby’s brain is growing faster in the first five years than any other time of life. • I provide a reliable and responsive relationships with children which helps their brains grow. • I engage children in activities that stimulate brain development. • I provide a language-rich environment that supports brain development. Parents are at work today because their child has care and education at here...: • But they may not be at work tomorrow because their child’s teacher could leave her job and make more working as a kindergarten teacher or receptionist. • But did you know that most daycare’s struggle to hire and retain teachers? Some of the perks: All the hugs you can stand, smiles until the days end, the wonder of the world through the eyes of the child, love of a friend for COURTESY PHOTO Brodhead Independent-Register life. These perks are priceless. (Back Row) Aubrey, Lori , Eliza, Olivia, Henry, Owen. (Front Row) Zachary, Jayda, Makenna.

Public invited to Multicultural Morning at BMS On behalf of the seventh grade students and staff at Brodhead Middle school, any and all are cordially invited to be a presenter at our annual “Multicultural Morning” on Thursday, May 3. As it is nearly impossible to travel beyond the border of the USA with an entire class of seventh grade students, we coordinate this annual curriculum enrichment. If you have traveled beyond the USA at some point in your life for any reason: mission work, military, business, pleasure, etc. A 30-minute presentation of your experiences, photographs, souvenirs, and memories that chronicle your travels abroad would be a welcome get-away for a small group of seventh grade “travelers.” We have the flexibility of scheduling speakers at 30-minute intervals beginning at 8:15 with the students dismissing for lunch at 11:15. We hope many
of you are available to speak to more than one group, therefore extending your time here to an hour or more. Students will attend three presentations, take a break for snacks from around the world (you are welcome to add a cultural treat if you like), and then attend two additional presentations. We are hopeful for lots of responses to this invitation, so our students can “travel” to lots of different destinations without even leaving Brodhead Middle School. Please respond to Stephanie Tresemer via email (stresemer@brodhead. k12.wi.us) or to Brodhead Middle School, ATTN: Stephanie Tresemer – 2100 W. Ninth Ave. Brodhead, WI 53520. We would like to gather all our responses by Friday, April 27 so we can formalize our schedule. Our seventh graders are eager to travel and will truly benefit from this curriculum enrichment.
