Bike helmets for sale at YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day

Green County 4-H, Safe Kids, and Monroe Optimists are teaming up to offer bike helmets for sale at this year’s YMCA Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 21 from 9:00am to Noon. The event is located at the Green County Family YMCA, 1307 2nd Street, Monroe. There will be 100 youth and adult sized helmets for sale at a cost of $5 per helmet. The goal of these organizations is to encourage safe riding practices by both parents and kids through the use of properly fitted helmets.

According to the Safe Kids Worldwide organization website, children should always wear a helmet for biking and other wheeled sports activities, and parents should model proper safety behavior by wearing a helmet as well. In fact, a helmet is the single most effective safety device there is that reduces the

risk of head injury or death when bicycling.

Representatives from Green County 4-H, Safe Kids and Monroe Optimists will be on hand at YMCA Healthy Kids Day to help with helmet fit testing and to answer questions. In addition, kids and families will have a chance to talk with a bicycle patrol officer from 9:00-10:00am. There will also be a variety of informative handouts that families can take home with them, including a bike safety inspection checklist, information on area bike paths and permits, and fun bicycle activity sheets.

‘Shipwrecked’ VBS at BUMC June 18-22 At Shipwrecked VBS, kids discover how Jesus rescues us through life’s storms. Shipwrecked is filled with incredible Bible-learning experiences kids see, hear, touch, and even taste. Thank you to all who voted April 3. There was good turn out at the polls which means people were exercising their right to vote and be heard. I am honored to represent District 24 for another term; thank you for your vote. I will do my best to be accessible and responsive, and to help keep you informed of what is happening in Green County.

All of the election results can be found on the Green County website at www.co.green.wi.gov under the tab on the right hand side of the home page labeled “Election Results”.

The County Board will be sworn in at the April 17, 2018 County Board meeting at 7:00 pm in the historic courthouse on the square in Monroe. The chair, the first vice chair, and the second vice chair will be selected at that time as well.

As always, the meeting is open and the public is welcome to attend.

The past couple of weeks have offered several opportunities for Green County residents to attend some meetings, to listen and discuss what is going on. One such meeting was put on by the local group Green County Defending Our Farmland on March 27 at the Brodhead Public Library and addressed the effect of CAFOs. Town boards were invited, as were the Green County Board and those running for seats on the county board, as well as our state legislators. There was a great turn out and an even better discussion with Senator Janis Ringhand, Representative Mark Spreitzer and several of the County Board and County Board candidates discussing local

control and how the state’s removal of local control is changing our landscapes.

Another meeting that was well attended and offered discussion opportunities was a town hall meeting held by Congressman Mark Pocan in Monroe at the historic courthouse on April 2. He took questions from those in attendance and discussed how things in Washington are effecting us here in Green County.

The overriding message from both of these events is that we the people need to continue to make our voices heard above the noise and clamor. We need to continue to demand local control and the ability to enforce it.

Big sweeping laws and regulations cannot bend and mold to our communities’ individual nuances and differences. Civility, open discussions, and persistence are the way.

In my last column I wrote about two questions that would be on the April 3 ballot. One was about changing the state constitution to remove the Office of Treasurer, and the other was about getting big money out of politics. Green County voted to keep the Office of Treasurer, and that money is not free speech.

Albany team takes part in mathematics competition On Feb. 27, Beckett Wachholz, Alex Koepp, Emerson Briggs, Abby Hollis, Nate Stokstad and Blake Finley took part in the 4th and 5th grade Math 24 competition. The competition was held at the Union South on the UW-Madison campus.

Students competed to find the fastest 24 sums throughout the morning. Fifth grade had an added challenge of having to come up with a missing variable to make both sides of the card equal 24.

All students did a great job and

represented Albany well. Congrats to Alex Koepp for having the most points for the Albany 4th graders and Blake Finley for the most 5th grade points from Albany. Blake finished 2 overall out of all the 5th graders in his room and Nate finished 4th.

On March 17, around 140 Albany area children attended the 34th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Albany Schools. The event is organized and run by Albany teachers and staff. The Albany Education Association teacher’s union is the financial sponsor for the hunt.

All children that attended this year looked for eggs around the school. Once they found one of each of the 6 colors of eggs, children went to the cafeteria to get 3 prizes with their tickets found inside 3 off the eggs.

All six eggs contained jelly beans as well. The prize tables had a variety of toys and books to choose from.

One prize table was even full of stuffed bunnies. New this year was a prize ticket for a free kid’s meal at Texas Roadhouse also for each child.

Three children found the first, second, or third place prize tickets inside their eggs to win a large Easter Basket of goodies. They were: Landon Wurtzbacher, Olivia Celaya, and Emma Thompson.

Softball The Friday, April 6, game against Burlington Catholic Central and Saturday, April 7, tournament in Orfordville were canceled due to weather.

They will not be rescheduled. Congratulations to Nicki Becker for signing her letter of intent to play softball at Concordia University.

Track The Turner meet on Tuesday, April 3, was canceled. The RVC Relays in Clinton on Saturday, April 7, were also canceled and rescheduled for Saturday, April 14. The next track meet after that will be on Tuesday, April 17, at home. This meet is against Big Foot and Clinton.

Blood Drive The Blood Drive was held on Tuesday, March 27. 35 pints were donated. This Blood Drive, the goal was only 33 pints because of the 100 pints donated in Monroe the day before. Thank you to everyone who donated!

Mr. Parkview contest set for Friday night The 2018 Mr. Parkview contest will be held on Friday, April 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the JR/SR High Commons. Cost will be $5 per person with half of the money going to the winner as a scholarship and the other half going to one of the classes for their treasury.

Nedrebo’s will again be supplying the tuxedos. Contests will include first impression, dance, talent, formal dress, question and sewing for the random challenge.

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m., so come and be entertained by a group of Parkview young men and help one of them earn a scholarship.

Yesterday, April 10, the boys played host to Clinton, and tomorrow they will travel to Clinton. Friday, East Troy will play in Brodhead against the Cardinals.

Juda Hill Climb Up and coming is this year’s Juda Hill Climb, which is being organized

by Spanish Club. It will be held on Saturday, May 19. The Kids Fun Run will begin at 9 a.m., and the 5k Run/2k Walk will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Spanish Club This year, the Spanish Club will be organizing the Juda Hill Climb. Registration cost is $25 before the race and $30 at the race. Registration will also guarantee a t-shirt. On April 27, Spanish 3 and 4 classes are taking a lunch trip to Luna Maya. Students: Remember to bring your own money.

Music Department State Solo and Ensemble will be held on Saturday, April 28, at UW Platteville. State Solo and Ensemble participants, make sure you practice.

Math Department Mr. Anderson and the engineering class are working with Upper 90 Energy, a company that specializes in

finding schools energy savings at little to no cost. The engineering class had a meeting with them on April 5 to discuss possible areas where we are using more energy than necessary. Upper 90 Energy was also able to help the class to better understand what peak energy usage is, possible ways to reduce it, and major factors in the difference between the peak consumption and the day’s average consumption value.

Art Department Last week the kindergarten class made robots, and the first grader glazed their pottery bowls. The second graders made owls, and the third graders worked with clay. The fourth graders worked on screen printing, and the sixth graders watched a movie. The middle school rotation class started a 3D project, and the high schoolers are currently creating a project based on what inspires them.

FFA There are 2018-2019 officer applications available in Mr. Johnson’s room, applications will be due April 13. In the Career Development Events held a couple of weeks ago, the Senior Dairy Cattle Team placed first, the Ag Mechanics Team placed eleventh, the Horse Evaluation Team placed thirty-fifth, the Junior Dairy Team placed fifth, the Floriculture Team placed twenty-eighth, the Vet Science Team placed twentieth, the Livestock Team placed forty-second, and the Milk Quality Team placed twenty-third. Again, congratulations to everyone who participated.

FFA Alumni Consignment Auction The auction was a success, and the FFA would like to thank everyone who came out and helped with

the food stand or helped the auctioneers.

Automotive Clinic Kubly’s Automotive will be holding a free car care clinic open to all high school students and their parents on April 21. The clinic will be held at W896 Ten Eyck Road, Brodhead, and is for Brodhead, Juda, Albany and Orfordville School Districts. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m., and the clinic is from 9 to 11 a.m. The clinic will focus on basic maintenance, how to reduce maintenance costs, safety concerns, the importance of warning lights and gauges, and how to save on fuel costs. There will also be opportunities to get to know your car one on one with a certified technician.

Space is limited to the first 25 students, so make sure to pre-register.

Sign-up sheets can be found in the Juda School District office and also can be turned in there. They would like registrations by April 18.

Swiss Colony Career Fair Swiss Colony held a career fair on Friday, April 6, for high school seniors. Each senior who attended received a scholarship for $100.

They learned about all the different job opportunities the Colony offers.

Business Education Field Trip On Monday, April 9, Mr. Pickett’s business classes went on a field trip to Milwaukee. They toured Miller Park and the BMO Harris Bradley Center. Students received “The

Bucks Experience,” which included a contest, a presentation and a full tour of the locker rooms, suites and clubs. Students then went to the Grand Avenue Mall for supper and later returned to the Bradley Center to watch the game against the Orlando Magic.

Green County Government Day A number of juniors from the U.S. History class participated in Green County Government Day on Thursday, April 5. Juniors who participated in this educational opportunity were Taylor Adkins, Karlee Kesler, Jacob Mahlkuch, Nicole Kamholz, Dean Devoe, Cole Mahlkuch, Rolando Miranda Pera, and Dominic Hoppe. They toured the jail, visited the courthouse, and even got to witness a mock trial.

Elementary News The annual Easter Egg Hunt was a huge success. Thank you to the juniors who helped organize and worked at the event and to all who participated.

Parkview elementary students honor veterans On March 20, the third and fourth grade students presented their music program “We Honor You” which is a salute to America’s Soldiers and Veterans. Music teacher Laura Schuler said the program was especially good for Veteran’s Day, but that we can honor our soldiers and veterans at any time.

very excited to present it. During the program all veterans were asked to stand and the students handed them all a small American flag to say “Thank you for your service.”

The program started with the “Star Spangled Banner,” and included “A Time to Remember,” “I Love the Grand Old Flag,” “Welcome Home,” “We Honor You,” and “Spirit of America.”

Sharing the Trails Safely with Horses Wisconsin Horse Council- Trails Committee Introduction to trail sharing Responsible trail users, whether hiker, mountain bicyclist or equestrian have much in common. We all seem to have an appreciation for public lands and want to enjoy and experience what these special places have to offer.

Trails in the State of Wisconsin are open to four trail user groups – hikers, mountain bicyclists, motorized, and equestrians. This is referred to as trail sharing and is a practice used by many public land managers throughout the United States. Trail sharing provides opportunities for a wide variety of individuals wanting to experience the outdoors. Limiting or prohibiting any one of these trail user groups, reduces the number individuals taking advantage of these lands and may inadvertently reduce the value the general public places on the trails.

Trail sharing can and does flourish when people respect each other and work cooperatively to keep each other safe. As users of these lands, it is our job to model safe trail sharing.

People worldwide are often familiar and comfortable interacting with hikers and their dogs and with bicyclists – both common in even the most urban of environments. That’s not always the case when we interact

with equestrians. Although horses were used as a major mode of transportation and necessity for Americans a century ago, today, it is common to find individuals who have never touched a horse or been around one. As a consequence, the Wisconsin Horse Council is providing more detailed information on trail sharing with equestrians in order to help you with these interactions out on the trails.

Background – attributes of prey animals Horses are prey animals and revert to instinct when anxious. As the species developed, survival depended on a good flight response. In short, when frightened, a horse will try to escape.

This may include a sudden spinning turn or rearing, which could unseat a rider. Although domesticated approximately 4,000 years ago, their natural tendency is to consider everything as a potential predator. Unless proven otherwise, a horse expects they are targeted to be tonight’s dinner. Many a human finds this concept difficult to comprehend with such a huge, truly powerful creature.

Although the horse’s instinct for self-preservation is to run, their sense of security comes from being part of a herd and getting direction from the herd leader. A competent rider can become the herd leader and is key to convincing the horse that the per-

ceived predator is not a threat at all.

Horses have eyes located on the sides of their heads and have a range of vision of about 350°. They have the ability to use both eyes separately which provides the horse with the best chance to spot predators and leave the area – fast! Even with this wide range of vision, a horse has two “blind spots” where the animal cannot see: directly in front and directly behind its head, which extends over his back and behind the tail. Where do many trail encounters occur?

You guessed it, usually someone coming directly at or directly behind the horse. Additionally, horses are farsighted, so things up close are blurry. When a bicyclist comes around a blind corner and suddenly appears within 50 feet in front of the horse, the horse cannot readily identify what is heading towards it. Once the flight mode has been engaged it is almost impossible for the rider to control the horse’s feet.

Another contributing factor is that a rider’s anxiety can be easily transferred to the horse. Horses have a keen sensation to touch. They may be big and powerful, but they can also detect an small gnat landing on their body and have the ability to wiggle a small patch of skin in an attempt to encourage the bug to move on. Not hard to imagine a rider’s tightening leg muscles can be felt by the horse

– often well before the rider realizes he’s contracting these muscles. If the rider is anxious about an approaching hiker and aggressive, barking dog, the rider’s back muscles become tense, his/her breathing shortens, pressure on the reins intensify. All cues to the horse that the herd leader feels that danger is approaching and all the more reason for our prey animal to run. And run they can. Top speed of a horse is 20-30 miles per hour and at 1,000 pounds, damage to nearby objects, people, rider and the horse itself can easily occur.

Guidance for all trail users When equestrians on well-trained horses and other responsible trail enthusiasts meet each other on the trail the encounters can be enjoyable social exchanges, if the groups understand how to work together to keep the encounters safe. These basic guidelines will help ensure that meeting on the trail will be a safe and enjoyable experience.

Common Courtesy • Follow trail restrictions and use only trails open to your mode of transportation.

• Be considerate of others. If you offer respect, you are more likely to receive it. Education with friendly respect will diminish negative encounters on the trail for all users.

• When traveling on shared use trails, continually watch for other

types of recreationists.

• Slow down when sight lines are poor.

• Keep speeds low around other recreationists.

• Keep noise and dust to a minimum. Keep your ears open – no ear buds for an iPod or MP3. Listening to headphones or ear buds can make it difficult to hear and communicate with other recreationists.

• Keep pets under control. Most trails require dogs to be leashed (for both the dog’s safety, as well as the safety of other trail users). Be familiar with and follow these rules.

• Communicate – let folks know you’re there – before you’re there.

A simple “Howdy” works to get attention, ringing a bike bell on a blind corner, or cheerful set of sleigh bells can help alert others of your approach.

Most hikers, runners, and riders know that trail etiquette requires them to yield to horses, but how, exactly, does a runner or cyclist yield?

What should a hiker or mountain cyclist do when they encounter equestrians on the trail? And what can equestrians do to ensure they pass others safely?

Dear Dr. Caraotta, Everyone knows that walking is a good overall exercise, but what do you think about golf if a person walks the course. Is golf a good exercise?

Dr. Caraotta’s Response Almost every exercise is beneficial, depending on a person’s health status and conditioning. There are however precautionary measures and some particulars with every sport that should be considered. In golf and other sports that heavily involve swinging an object or striking a ball, it is typical for torsional stress on the involved joints of the spine to produce chronic pain in the affected joints.

Dr. Watkins, in his book The Spine in Sports , notes that on the PGA Tour, the most common injuries are to the low back and neck. He also stated that “almost all professional golfers deal with some form of cervical (neck) or lumbar (low back) problems.”

Does this mean that golf should be avoided by the general population?

Absolutely not! Keep in mind that these high performance athletes are performing swinging maneuvers much more concentrated and frequent than the average golfer and this repetition is what causes this phenomenum. With this in mind, lets discuss some things that should be considered when golfing.

The golf swing demands coordinated function of the trunk, especially during the extremes of motion. The most common problem in golf is that it is easy to maintain tight trunk control in the mid-rotational power position but it is at the extremes of the back swing that most injuries occur.

This leads to a common recommendation for the recreational golfer, which is to reduce the length of the back swing and follow-through. In fact, recent research by Neighbors (1997) indicates that the back swing can be shortened approximately 20% without a loss in club head velocity at ball impact.

Strengthening certain muscle groups could also help prevent golf injuries. These muscles include the thighs, hips, abdominal, paraspinal musculature, latissimus dorsi, and the scapular stabilizers.

Players who have played for a long time will basically swing the same way they have always swung. If poor mechanics have been developed over a period of time due to injury or compensation for weaknesses or instability, they will likely have difficulty correcting the swing faults as long as they continue without intervention.

These players may require instruction on appropriate mechanics and may need to rest from the game as they rehabilitate. Next week we will discuss some injuries that are common to golfers, and some protocols of rehabilitation that could be helpful.

Sunset Golf: Established in 1937 by local leaders

Sunset Golf Course, home of the famous Lyle Towns Old Home Week 4th of July Scramble, was founded in 1937 by the Kable brothers and other prominent figures in the Mount Morris township. In 1990 the course layout changed with the addition of four holes, which now play as # 4, 5, 6, and 8.

The course’s most well know attraction is the 7th hole which is a 100 yard par 3 that requires golfers to hit their shot over a giant ravine known by lo-

cals as the Pit. On the original course layout this played as the final hole, but today it is the 7th. What seems like such a simple hole has played mind games with golfers for years. Even the best golfers have managed to ruin their rounds after challenging this hole.

Krueger-Haskell Golf Course is located on the west side of the City of Beloit and opened May 1, 1927. When the course opened it was originally a 9-hole course. In 1931 the course was enlarged to an 18-hole course.

Today the course is an 18 hole, par 70, 6158 yard course from the white tees. Our unique layout, mature trees and rolling terrain make it a challenging and enjoyable course for any golfer.

Everett was a native Beloiter, local businessman, city councilor, an avid golfer and supporter of the golf course.

YARD WASTE SITE TO REOPEN FOR THE 2018 SEASON ATTENTION VILLAGE OF ORFORDVILLE RESIDENTS: The Yard Waste Disposal site on Brodhead Street will be open for drop off beginning on April 15th.

The open hours for the site will remain the same as last year: Saturday 8AM – 2PM Sunday 8AM – 2PM Monday 8AM – 3:30PM Residents are reminded of the following rules governing the Yard Waste Disposal site: 1. This facility may only be used by village residents. Proof of residency may be required before being admitted to the site.

2. Only organic yard waste generated inside the village limits by village residents is allow to be dropped off at this site. Proof that material was generated inside the village limits may be required before drop off is allowed.

3. Tree services and other contractors working for village residents are not considered residents and will not be allow to dispose of any materials at this site.

4. No trash, garbage, building materials, tires, plastics, landscape timbers or any other non-organic materials shall be dropped off at this site at any time. Anyone caught doing so shall be fined $1000 for each violation, and shall be required to reclaim any non-compliant material and dispose of it as required by law.

5. All accepted material shall be placed in the appropriate piles, as determined by the Public Works Department. Material shall not be dumped in any other location.

6. The Village of Orfordville reserves the right to refuse entry to any person, at any time, and for any reason, regardless of the material that said person wished to dump, 7. Any person in violation of these rules will be referred to the Orfordville Police Department for enforcement action.

The Department of Public Works will offer limited pickup of small amounts of wind fall sticks and branches, etc., at your residence on Monday mornings. Please keep in mind that the Department is not a Yard Waste Disposal or Lawn Maintenance company. As such we will not pick up large amounts of debris or make multiple trips to your residence. For example tree limbing or other types of yard maintenance activity generating substantial piles of material will not be picked up.

As a rule we will also not pick up any materials on any days other than Mondays, unless Monday is a holiday. If Monday is a holiday, the following Tuesday will be the pickup day.

quire a runner to slow his pace, or a cyclist to stop and give an equestrian time to respond – that is what “yielding to horses” means. For equestrians, just because others are to yield, doesn’t mean they should not allow faster users to pass. The goal of yielding is to make the act of passing safe for all.

2) As a hiker or cyclist, when you see a horse and rider, stop and greet the rider in a calm voice. Speak in a soft manner, and keep talking.

Horses will often identify you as a human, not something interested in doing them harm. Ask the rider what they would like for you to do. The rider knows their horse’s training and behavior and is likely in the best position to guide others to a safe interaction. Depending on the size of the group and the speed of the various trail users, the equestrian may wish to move to the side of the trail, once space allows and will ask others to pass them. Talking in a calm manner, giving a wide berth and passing each other in a slow and relaxed manner provide the best opportunity for a safe interaction.

3) For equestrians, when they see a hiker or biker, the same applies – greet them and let them know your preference to safely pass. If the hiker or cyclist is silent, engage the individual in a conversation. You may need to tell them to talk – so the horse can identify them as a human.

Those with little or no equestrian interaction are often appreciative of a rider’s knowledge and direction for safe passage.

In Summary Respect It’s a simple concept – if you offer respect, you are more likely to receive it. Education with friendly respect will diminish negative encounters on the trail for all users.

Anticipate other trail users as you come around blind corners. Bicyclists should yield to other non-motorized trail users, unless the trail is clearly signed for bike-only travel.

Additionally, bicyclists traveling downhill should yield to those headed uphill, unless the trail is clearly signed for one-way or downhill-only traffic. In general, strive to make each pass a safe and courteous one.

Revere the Resource The trails in Wisconsin have unsurpassed opportunities to enjoy the landscape, heritage, and unique beauty of the environment. Help protect accessibility by playing nicely with other trail enthusiasts and treat these trails with reverence. Demonstrate and model positive trail sharing practices. Pitch-in and give back – pick up trash, learn about becoming a Steward volunteer. Take action and get more involved today.

Be Informed It’s your responsibility to be “in the know.” Know which trails are best suited for different types of user groups and skill sets and select those trails/adventures appropriately.

Learn how to determine when there are trail closures, and follow trail rules. If you are unsure about where to get answers to those questions, contact the land manager for additional assistance.

RON LUETY Ron J. Luety, age 58, of Brodhead, WI, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at his home. He was born on September 12, 1959 in Beloit, WI, the son of Roger and Virginia (Schulte) Luety.

His first marriage was to Wendy Upward. She passed away in July, 1996. Ron then married Jacqueline A. (Welsh) Day on October

11, 1997.

Ron had worked at Kinze Manufacturing in Williamsburg, IA, and most recently at Kuhn North America in Brodhead, WI, as the Director of Operations. Ron was a member of the Madison Retriever Club, Madison, WI. He loved his job, helping people to reach their full potential. In his free time, he loved working with his dogs, hunting, being outdoors and spending time with his family.

Ron is survived by his wife, Jackie; two daughters, Kylie (Drew) Eggers, Shelbie (Ryan) Goodoien; two sons, Brandon

KAY SEARLES Katherine “Kay” Margaret Searles, age 92, of Brodhead, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at the Next Inning Assisted Living facility in Orfordville, WI. She was born on January 18, 1926 in Verona, WI, the daughter of John and Katherine (Matzner) Jaggi. She married Robert L. Searles on September 27, 1946. He passed away on January 11, 1999.

Kay had worked for Farmer’s Mutual Insurance Co., Madison, and Pierce Music Co. of Brodhead, for many years. She was a member of the United Congregational Church of Christ, Brodhead and a former member of the Eastern Star.

She enjoyed the many years of camaraderie from her’Birthday Girls’ group as well as cooking and entertaining. She especially loved traveling the US and Canada with her husband Bob. Kay was always

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 9, 2018, at the Congregational United Church of Christ, Brodhead, WI, with Rev. David Frey officiating, WI. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. The D.L. Newcomer Funeral Home, Brodhead, WI, is assisting the family. WILLIAM SCHWELLENBACH William B. Schwellenbach, age 62 of Brodhead, died Friday April 6, 2018 at Mercy Hospital. He was born on July 10, 1955 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of August and Beverly (Gikling) Schwellenbach.

He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1973 and Milton College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with a Major in English.

Bill’s first job was with Twin Disc Clutch in Rockford; and then he began substitute teaching for many area schools, coached and judged forensics and tutored on the side. Over the years during the summer he taught Tennis for the Summer School Parks Programs in Janesville and in Beloit he gave private lessons; and ran several tennis clinics.

Bill enjoyed walking, hiking, playing tennis, playing guitar, movies, music and taking drives to enjoy the changes of season. Bill also loved to read, with interests in history, biographies, sports and the Bible.

He is survived by his wife, Kim, of Brodhead; mother, Beverly Schwellenbach and sister, Donna Schwellenbach, both of Beloit.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Everson Funeral Home, Brodhead.
