Monroe Clinic is expanding its orthopedic services to offer the latest advancement in joint replacement surgery, the MAKO Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology System.
The MAKO Technology utilizes a preoperative CT Scan to allow for patient-specific pre-operative planning that enables more accurate implant positioning. CT data is used to create a 3D model of the patient’s anatomy. An individualized pre-operative plan is created and reviewed by the surgeon prior to the Mako procedure.
Throughout each procedure, the surgical team will be able to continually validate the individual plan for each patient in real time. This ensures accuracy of the implant and optimization of implant placement. Drs. Lance Sathoff and Jonathan Swindle are both MAKO-certified and trained. They began operating with MAKO-assisted procedures in November 2019. Anyone interested in scheduling an orthopedic consultation for MAKO-assisted procedures or learning more about treatment options for muscular, joint or bone issues, should contact the Monroe Clinic Orthopedic team at 608-324-1127.

Parkview Spelling Bee results
The Parkview Elementary School (PES) held their spelling bee on Jan. 28. Twenty students in grades three –six took part in the spelling bee. Ellen Owens, a retired PES teacher was the pronouncer, a position she had filled for many years. The contest got down to three students, fourth grader Braedyn Girard, and two sixth graders, Robert Ellis and Sheri Montgomery. Braedyn missed his word and a few more rounds went by with Robert and Sheri not missing a word. Robert missed a word and then Sheri had to spell two more words correctly to be the winner, which she did.
Sheri represented Parkview at the Regional Competition at the Stoughton High School on Feb. 5. There were 42 contestants at the regional competition. Sheri made it to the final round and placed in the top six spellers in the region.
