Get park and trail passes

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ state park and forest annual admission stickers and trail passes are on sale.

In this season of giving, an annual admission sticker or trail pass makes for the perfect present, unwrapping opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy Wisconsin’s big backyard every day of the year.

“We’re delighted to give visitors a boost to stretch out and enjoy a day of fresh air and fun by opening sales of 2023 admission stickers and trail passes the day after Thanksgiving,” DNR Parks Director Steve Schmelzer said. “From northern waterfalls to the Lake Michigan shoreline and southern forests to the Dalles of the St. Croix River, there’s no shortage of fun in Wisconsin’s four corners.”

The 2023 stickers and passes for admission to parks, forests, recreation areas and trails are valid from the date of purchase through Dec. 31, 2023.

Vehicle admission passes provide access to more than 60 state parks, forests and recreation areas across Wisconsin. They are required on all motor vehicles visiting state parks and recreation areas. Some state forest and trail parking areas also require the annual sticker or daily admission pass.

An admission sticker costs $28 for Wisconsin residents or $38 for non-residents. If there is more than one vehicle registered to the same household, additional state park and forest stickers are available for $15.50 for residents and $20.50 for non-residents. A senior citizen annual sticker for $13 is available for Wisconsin residents 65 years of age and older.

Annual trail passes are $25 for residents and nonresidents.

Additionally, state trail passes are required for all people age 16 or older biking, in-line skating, horseback riding, cross-country skiing or off-highway motorcycling on specific state trails. A state trail pass is not required for walking or hiking.

Resident and non-resident annual admission stickers are available online and at individual state park and forest properties via drive-up window service, self-registration kiosks or over the phone. State trail passes are available only at individual properties or licensed vendors.

If gifting an admission sticker or trail pass for the holidays, the DNR recommends purchasing stickers by Friday, Dec. 9, to receive them in time.

Those interested in purchasing a bulk order of 20 or more annual admission stickers on behalf of themselves or their organization can fill out a questionnaire, and DNR staff will assist with the order.

Visit the DNR’s website at dnr.wi.gov for information on the Wisconsin state park and forest vehicle admission sticker.

Tree spuds can be rented with a deposit. We also have tree planters available, allowing you to plant a lot of trees with ease.

Parkview wrestlers hold their own in triangular meet

Parkview Wrestling Team traveled to Beloit Turner High School on Thursday, Dec. 1, for a triple dual meet against teams for Turner and Janesville Parker high schools.

The team came out fight ing hard. We lost the first meet against Turner 25-52, but the meet was a lot closer than the score indicates.

We got some hard-fought wins and losses, including wins from Lexi Hanson, Slater Valley, Danny Finley, Sam Schwengels and Wes Egan.

The second contest ended in a tie score of 39-39, but we lost due to the criteria that Parker won more match es including forfeits.

We got wins from Lexi, Slater, Danny, Ian Suer, Luc Cramer, Sam and Wes.

Some of the hardest fought matches came up on the wrong side with Con nor Flippin, Evan Suer and Jayden Anderson working hard against their best wres tlers.

On the junior varsity side, we went 4-2 with wins from first-year wrestlers from across the pond (Italy and Spain) Nico Zamora and Simo Cenacchi.

Trevor Haugen stepped on the mat for the first time in a lot of years, pushed it hard but came up a little short.

Very proud coach watch ing them all push it hard and
