That time of year: Brodhead Fire & Ice Festival Brodhead’s Fire & Ice Festival is just around the corner on Dec. 6 and 7. Don’t miss any of the exciting activities. FRIDAY, DEC. 6 Fire pits will be burning for roasting hot dogs, marshmallows, and making S’mores. Hot chocolate and chili will be for sale as well, while Christmas music rings Christmas cheer. Great family fun for any age. Arts & Crafts Fair - The 6th Annual Arts & Crafts Fair will be held in the Bank of Brodhead’s courtesy room. The hours will be Friday, Dec. 6 from 7-8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 7 from 8-noon. This will be a chance to mark some gifts off your list. Gingerbread Creation Display - Homemade Gingerbread Creations will be on display at the Bank of Brodhead. If you are interested in entering your homemade Gingerbread Creation, please visit the Chamber’s website for the form* and rules. There is a $15 entry fee and a chance to win prizes. Judging will be at 6:45 p.m. at the bank. Sassy Farm Chicks Quilt Co. Display - New this year: Orfordville’s Sassy Farm Chick’s Quilt Co. will have on display at the City Hall, Fri., Dec. 6, from 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m., will have on display their professional quilt workmanship that they have completed for their customers. To learn more, check out their Facebook page. Fire Pits: You can warm up to fire pits placed on the square where you can purchase and roast hot dogs and marshmallows, and make S’mores. There are family-friendly fees for these food items. Kettle Corn: Sugar River Kettle
Corn Co. will have for purchase, fresh popped kettle corn, by the gazebo from 4 p.m. to close. This will be offered Fri. only. Food Wagon and Food Choices: The Chamber Wagon will be selling hot chocolate, hot dogs, walking tacos, S’mores, marshmallows, chili, along with the United Methodist Church selling brats from 4 p.m. to close. On The Square – New this year: Tori Smith from Magnolia, WI, will be entertaining us with her professional fire spinning show each hour, on the square. Zoli Akacsos, from Monroe, will be sculpturing blocks of ice in to pieces of winterland art from 3-8 p.m. Photos with Santa - Photos with Santa comes back this Christmas season and is sponsored by the Sugar River Bank. From 3:30-6:30 p.m. children can have their photos taken with Santa at the previous Harvest Moon, 1101 1st Center Ave, Brodhead. There is no charge. You will fill out a form at the time of the photos. Selfie Photo Spot - New this year: Located in Tinker’s Garden area, there will be a Selfie Photo Spot for you to take your photo to post to social media. If you post it to the Fire & Ice Festival Facebook page, we will announce the best Selfie Photo on Saturday morning. Kid’s Activities - The kid’s can enjoy cookie decorating, sponsored by the Brodhead Optimist; Christmas coloring pages, tattoos, and face painting, Fri., Dec. 6 at the City Hall from 4-6:30 p.m. Horse Drawn WAGON RIDES On Fri. only, the BID and the Brodhead Chamber will be offering the Horse Drawn WAGON rides from 4-6:30
p.m. There will be two wagons to provide more rides. The CARRIAGE rides will be offered only on Sat. from 9 a.m.noon. Kubly’s Automotive Car Give-AWay – At 6 p.m., Kubly’s Automotive LLC will be announcing the fortunate recipient of the Wheels-To-Prosper car give-a-way. Cindy Lou Who Contest – We are seeking Cindy Lou Who Contest entries. Parents can dress up their children to look like the Cindy Lou Who character from the children’s Dr. Seuss Christmas classic movie “How The Grinch Stole Christmas.” The Cindy Lou Who contestants will be judged at the HalfWay Cafe at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6. Winners will be awarded prizes. The Cindy Lou Who contestants can be in the Lighted Parade and are to check in at 6:45 p.m. at 10th St. and E. 3rd Ave. and will be assigned their spot. Decorated Pet Contest - Fire & Ice Festival is seeking pet entries for the Lighted Parade. The pets are to be dressed in Christmas costume. The pets will be judged in front of City Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Fri., Dec. 6. Prizes will be awarded from 33 Seeds in Orfordville and Brodhead Chamber: 1st $15, 2nd $10, and 3rd place $5.00. The pets and owners can be in the Lighted Parade and are to check in at 6:45 p.m. at 10th St. and E. 3rd Ave. and will be assigned their spot. All pets must be leashed and controlled with a proper fitting collar and kept away from other pets. Please
refrain from using retractable leashes. There is no charge for this contest, but there is a form to fill out*. LIGHTED PARADE - At 7 p.m. on Fri., Dec. 6, the famous Lighted Parade will start, entering 1st Center Ave from 10th St. and traveling to 12th St and turning left. Feature guests in the Lighted Parade will be Santa & Mrs. Clause, Olaf, Christmas Elf, Cindy Lou Who contestants, decorated pets, parade marshalls, many trucks, horses, lighted entries, organizations, groups, business, and much more. Last year we had over 45 entries. The parade will be announced from the tip of Tinker’s Garden , compliments of James Carter. Frozen T-shirt Contestants - The Fire & Ice Festival is gearing up for the 6th annual Frozen T-shirt Contest, Fri.,
Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. Last year the contest was very popular and lots of fun. The concept is to remove a frozen t-shirt from a zip lock bag and race to see who the first is to thaw the t-shirt and to put it on as if wearing a t-shirt. We are seeking contestants, ages 16 and over to compete for prizes: first place $100, second place $50, and third place $25. There is a $15 entry fee and form to fill out*. White Gift 50/50 Raffle - This is the season for giving and the Fire and Ice Festival will be selling 50/50 raffle tickets on Fri., Dec. 6. to benefit Brodhead’s White Gift and one lucky name that is drawn. Tickets will be for sale at the food wagon on the north side of the downtown square from 4-7 p.m. Volunteers will roam around the Lighted Parade crowd for a chance to purchase a ticket from 6-7 p.m. After the parade,
