National Guard extends testing deployment The National Guard has extended its deployment to continue offering COVID-19 testing at Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville through March 10, officials announced last week. The free community testing is available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays at the college’s central campus, 6004 S. County Highway G. People should enter the testing site using the U.S. Highway 51 entrance to the campus. Pre-registration is strongly recommended but people may register themselves on-site if necessary. To register, go online to register.covidconnect.wi.gov. “This is a drive-thru testing site and anyone getting tested must stay in their vehicle,” a news release said. “A nasal swab will be used to collect a sample by a uniformed member of the Wisconsin National Guard.” A Spanish-language interpreter will be available for those who don’t speak English. About 650 tests will be administered per day and the testing site will close for the day once 650 tests have been given. Testing will not take place on Dec. 24 or Dec. 31. The first day of testing in 2021 will be Wednesday, Jan. 6. Testing is open to anyone age 5 and older, but especially encouraged for those experiencing symptoms. COVID-19 symptoms include: • Cough • Fatigue • Sudden loss of taste/smell • Shortness of breath
• Sore throat • Congestion or runny nose • Fever • Muscle pain • Nausea or vomiting
• Chills • Headache • Diarrhea “We continue to closely monitor the impacts of COVID-19 and pro-
vide information to assist residents and businesses to respond to the emergency as it evolves,” the news release said. For the latest information, go on-

Jeremy Pinnow & Associates Inc. in Brodhead recently made a $1,000 donation to the fund used to support Brodhead School District students who do not have proper clothing for winter weather. Pinnow, third from left, presents the check to Albrecht Elementary School Principal Dave Novy. Brodhead Superintendent Lenny Lueck and Jeremy Pinnow & Associates staff members Melissa McNeece and Amy Harding also were on hand for the presentation. “Many children in our district do not have adequate winter apparel such as coats, boots, gloves and snow pants,” according to a news release. “This year, the need for these essential items has drastically increased.” People may donate to help provide winter clothing by sending a donation to the school district and specifying it for the “district school supply account.”

“I’m most thankful that the bank was able to keep in mind people’s health concerns and allowed so many people to work from home or just to be home especially when the beginning of everything was so scary. Being allowed to work from home has allowed me as a credit analyst to still get our deals done and money to the people who need them.”
