Multiple departments dispatched to house fire in Hanover By Erica Gokey EDITOR
For some residents in Hanover, it was just another night. However, around 8 p.m., a fire was spreading through a quiet house in the 8400 block of Front Street. A disabled woman was the lone occupant of the house at the time. Korey Statton, a nearby neighbor, who heard her yelling for help, rescued her. The woman was in a wheelchair and could not escape through the doorway of the home. She was able to call 911 before trying to leave the home. She was taken to the hospital for injuries unknown.
Multiple departments responded to the 3rd box alarm including Orfordville, Footville, Beloit, Brodhead, Juda, Monroe, Albany, Brooklyn, Evansville, Oregon, Milton and Stoughton. Upon Orfordville’s arrival, it was reported that one side of the house was fully engulfed. Green County EMS was also paged out to the scene. Two adults and four children live in the house. The children and their mother were not home at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire and name of the family are not yet known at the time of this publication.
