Alleda’s Crew, walking in memory of Alleda Gerber, was the family team raising the most money, at $1,555. Monroe Manor had the most walkers in attendance at 42. The two individuals raising the most money were both from the Pleasant View team, Michael Wolff and Cindy Miller.
Speakers at this year’s event included Dr. Gaines E. Richardson, Palliative Medicine and Hospice Medical Director at the Monroe Clinic, and James Wilson, administrator for Monroe Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation. Sponsors of this year’s walk included Gold Sponsors Colony Brands, Inc. and Mini’s Team; Silver Sponsors Babler Associates, First National Bank and Trust Company, and the Monroe Clinic; and Bronze Sponsor Klondike Cheese Company. All funds raised stay in Wisconsin to help local families. Last year, the ADAW provided close to 25,000 points of service, including 369 education programs, 164 support group meetings, 581 care consultations, and 10,800 responses to helpline calls. The ADAW began offering a new program early this month in partnership with the Monroe Clinic. Crossing Bridges is an educational discussion group for people with mild memory impairment and their family members. Walk donations will be accepted through the end of October.
