Drive up, roll up your sleeve at flu shot event Monroe Clinic’s second drive-thru flu vaccination event will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, in the clinic building parking lot off 22nd Avenue in Monroe. Attendees are asked to approach the clinic building parking lot from the north. Take Fourth Street (between St. Clare Friedensheim and the hospital) to 22nd Avenue. Turn right onto 22nd Avenue and then follow the signs to the clinic entrance parking lot. The drive-thru flu shots are available for adults age 19 and older only. Flu vaccine is $30. For those who qualify, the high-dose influenza vaccine is available for $63. Check or credit card will be accepted for payment — no cash. The patient’s insurance company may be billed. Attendees should wear a mask and are encouraged to wear a shirt with sleeves that easily roll up or short sleeves when receiving the vaccine. New exhibit features historic campaign memorabilia A new exhibit at the Rock County Historical Society in Janesville features national and local election buttons, posters, matchbooks, political handouts, letters and more ranging from 1897 through 2012, thanks to a collaborative effort between RCHS and the family members of George and Virginia Kowal (Kealey). The society’s campaign collectibles date as far back as President William McKinley’s election in 1896. The Kowal collection includes a framed poster from John F. Kennedy’s 1960 campaign — featuring a smiling, black-and-white photograph of the soon-to-be president with the headline: “Kennedy for President, Leadership for the ’60s.” Posters from Lyndon B. Johnson’s presidential campaign, a life-sized cutout of Ronald Reagan, and dozens of
