Happy New Year! As 2018 begins, Green County continues onward with business and meetings. The Finance Committee met Tuesday Jan. 2, and the agenda includes discussion and possible action regarding a county wheel tax.

Information about wheel tax had been distributed to the County Board Supervisors a few months ago and mentioned briefly during the presentation about the state of our roads at the December County Board meeting.

I expect the Board will be voting on a wheel tax in the relatively near future.

The Ag & Extension Committee will be meeting Wednesday, Jan. 3. The Land and Water Conservation Committee will be meeting Thursday, Jan. 4 at

9:30 a.m. at the USDA Office in Monroe. Included on the agenda is discussion and possible action on condition #2 of the Pinnacle Dairy permit. When Green County issued a livestock siting permit to Pinnacle Dairy, there were 3 conditions that needed to be met. Condition 2 has not been met and it is questionable if it is even possible for it to be met. Green County has been in discussions with the DNR and DATCP about this, and will be discussed at the Jan. 4 committee meeting. This meeting is open to the public.

The Livestock Facility Group will be meeting Tuesday January 9 in the lower level multi purpose rooms 2 and 3 of the Justice Center building from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

will be speaking about Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) and the Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES) Permit Program. If you are unable to attend this meeting but are interested in the presentation and discussion, it will be posted on the Green County UW Extension site at www.green.uwex.edu/ under both the Agriculture and Community tabs.

Also, Tuesday January 30 at 12:30 p.m. will be the presentation of the Green County Hydrogeologic study. If you are unable to make it to that, you will be able to view it from the Green County UW Extension website.

Parkview hosting show choir competition The first annual XTRAVAGANZA show choir competition will take place at Parkview JR/SR high in Orfordville on Saturday, January 6. Doors will open at 8:00 a.m. Cost to attend is $12; which include all performances. Nine show choirs are registered to perform in addition to both of Parkview’s Show Choirs, Pizazz Express (Junior High) and Pizazz, performing in exhibition during the day. Pizazz Express will be the first performance of the day at 9:00 a.m. and Pizazz will perform at 3:00 p.m. Area schools performing include Brodhead’s “Guys & Dolls” Milton’s “Octave Above” and “Choralation” Milton’s “Octave Above” will be per-

XTRAVAGANZA 2018 will include Middle School/Jr High, HS Single Gender, HS Mixed JV/Prep, and HS Open Class groups from Wisconsin and Illinois. Fury capture second place The Fury traveled to Eau Claire to participate in a six-team tournament Dec. 27-28. The Fury first took on Appleton United and easily defeated them 6-2. Haley Knauf opened game scoring on passes from Dani Heitsman and Zoie Steig. With 8 seconds into the second period Steig lit the lamp. Appleton then posted a goal, followed by four goals by the Fury from Dani Heitsman, Haley Knauf for her second, Anika Einbeck, and Maggie Henschler. Earning assists on those goals were Steig, Anne Runde, Alyssa Knauf, Heitsman, Ally Burke, and Kaitlynn Beyer.

The second game of the tournament the Fury took on Beaver Dam/Fondy Warbirds. Both teams brought the heat. Anika Einbeck lit the lamp midway through the first period. Both teams continued to battle but neither scored in the second period. Maggie Henschler fed the net halfway in the third. The War-

birds scored on a power play, but it wasn’t enough to overtake the Fury.

The Fury won 2-1 while McKaylie Buescher recorded 22 saves.

The final game the Fury played Fox Cities Stars. It was a back and forth battle between both teams. The Stars were first to get on the scoreboard in the first period. The Fury responded with a goal by Maggie Henschler, assisted by Dani Heitsman and Kaitlynn Beyer. Both teams battled it out in the second period but neither scored. The Stars got their second goal at the top of the third. Fury continued to fight and responded with a goal by Dani Heitsman on a pass from Cammi Ganshert. Regulation ended in a 2-2 tie. Sudden death overtime ensued.

Unfortunately, the Stars got past the Fury for the OT win. Based on tourney points system, the Fury received The Fury celebrate a goal. an OT tourney point, ensuring them a second place finish with hardware to bring home.

Does your dog need a change of scenery? Consider taking Fido to the dog park, where he or she can play, exercise, and socialize with other dogs and people. These activities can benefit your dog both physically and mentally.

But that doesn’t mean Fido should be free to roam the park without your supervision.

Kit Darling, infection control coordinator at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, offered a few tips to keep your pet safe at the dog park.

“You should watch your dog at the park, and don’t be distracted,” Darling said. “Pay close attention to the dogs and their body language. Inter-

rupt play if necessary to calm their behavior, and remove your dog if it is afraid or being bullied by others.

In addition, it can be helpful to leave toys at home to avoid your pet from guarding their toys.”

How do you know when to break up a play-date? Darling said any play that seems questionable should be stopped because it could lead to a fight. Questionable behaviors include stalking, possessiveness over a toy (such as aggressive tug-of-war), and wrestling, if more than two dogs are involved or if one dog is always on the bottom. I am the current mayor of the City of Brodhead and seeking re-election at the Tuesday, April 3, 2018 election. I have always been committed to the present and future success of Brodhead. I have been a member of the Chamber of Commerce since 1978, working to promote Brodhead as a great place to live, work, shop, visit, eat. I am active in my church and civic organizations, including Optimist and Lions Clubs. I have been a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Brodhead for 26 years.

I owned and operated Pinnow Pharmacy in downtown Brodhead from 1986-2015. I previously served on the City Council for 7 years and on the School Board for 12 years. I served on the Business Improvement District Board for many years to work with district property owners to continue to maintain and improve their buildings to preserve the historical integrity of the downtown, making it an inviting place to visit and shop. The BID is instrumental in promoting the concerts in the park and working with the Chamber of Commerce and other groups to develop brochures that promote Brodhead to potential visitors and businesses.

I have always tried to follow one of the statements of the Jaycee Creed that “Service to humanity is the best work of life.”

I believe it is important for the Mayor to be visible in the community to show the City is interested in working with everyone to promote Brodhead.

Other safety concerns for the dog park include the spread of infectious disease and parasites. Darling said it is important for dogs going to parks to be on medications that prevent heartworms, fleas, and intestinal parasites. Dogs should also be upto-date on their vaccinations, so it is best to leave puppies at home until they have all their shots. If you plan on visiting the dog park often, ask your veterinarian about Bordetella and leptospirosis vaccines.

“It is advisable for dogs that have contact with other dogs to be vaccinated for Bordetella, commonly known as kennel cough, a contagious respiratory disease,” Darling said.

“In addition, consider vaccinating for the leptospira bacteria, which can be exposed to your dog in ponds with stagnant water or by contaminated urine from wildlife.”

If you and your pet are looking for a new adventure, you may find one at the dog park. But before you grab your leash and head out the door, make sure your pet’s health is protected and you are ready to supervise your pet.

Few days of deer hunting season remain

Whether we like it or not, winter arrives each year. Will it be mild or will it be wild? Who knows?

But we need to update you on procedures to follow when inclement weather is upon us.

We make our decisions regarding closings based upon what we feel is best for our many volunteers whom we gratefully depend on to make our nutrition programs work.

Any decision to close meal sites due to inclement weather will be announced on WEKZ Radio (1260 AM or 93.7 FM) no later than 7 a.m.

In case we need to close your meal site and are unable to deliver meals, it’s a good idea now to stock up on some “staples”.

Suggestions for good “cold weather staples” include: soup, crackers, hot or cold cereal, canned juice, bottled water, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, non fat dry milk, canned fruit, frozen “TV” dinners, canned chicken or tuna, breakfast bars, ready-to-eat pudding, peanut butter, jelly, or canned stew.

Filling up on warm soup can help your body’s temperature and nutritional needs. Soups can provide fiber, vitamins, protein, carbohydrates, minerals, lots of fluid, and very little fat - if you plan wisely.

When purchasing soup, remember that canned soups can be high in sodium, so check the nutrition facts panel on the can.

There are soup alternatives with less salt. Similarly, TV dinners can also be high in salt. Look at labels for high sodium content.

Please make sure your sidewalks and driveway are clear of ice and snow so that volunteers can safely deliver your meals.

A public servant is generally a person who is employed by the government, either through appointment or election. Examples include, among others, police officers, paid and volunteer firefighters, health officers, the public works director and designees, city clerk and designees, code enforcement personnel, and other city personnel authorized to enforce city ordinances, statutes, and codes. That’s quite straight forward, demonstrating one is a true public servant is a little more discerning The most effective leadership technique to achieve a culture of servitude within local government is to “lead by example”. When looking at City Hall, the Mayor’s office, or the Council Chambers I think to myself: “this, in reality, is all the property of the taxpayers”. They are the employers, the boss. Their names are on the top of the organizational chart. They should all be treated with the dignity their position demands….and treated equally.

Some other indicators of a true public servant: 1.) Communication. Do they regularly tell the taxpayers what they’re doing, or do they only follow the bare minimum required by law? 2.) Be respectful. Are taxpayers treated with respect when attending meetings? Are they welcomed or scorned depending on whom they are or what position they hold? 3.) Attendance.

Any employer will tell you their first requirement of an employee is to “show up”. The job is to represent and lead…that can’t be done if one is absent regularly.

Now if that wasn’t enough here’s one more item on servitude I feel strongly about: city committees are really the citizen’s committee. That’s right, each one of the various committees, whether standing or temporary, work for the taxpayer. All committee members should be mindful of such.

The nine-day gun deer hunt may be over, but hunters can still participate in the muzzleloader season, archery and crossbow seasons and two antlerless-only gun hunts.

The muzzleloader deer season runs from Nov. 27 - Dec. 6 and gives hunters the opportunity to fill any unused deer tag and extend their gun deer season. Thousands of hunters participate in this hunt every year using both primitive and modern muzzleloaders.

The annual statewide four-day, antlerless-only hunt will take place Dec. 7-10. Hunters may fill any unused antlerless tags while hunting in the proper deer management zone, unit and land type specified on the tag.

In addition, the antlerless-only holiday hunt will be offered in 17 farmland units from Dec. 24 - Jan. 1, 2018. These seasons are used at the request of County Deer Advisory Councils and utilized in units with high deer numbers in need of antlerless harvest to slow overall herd growth. Hunters may fill any unused antlerless tags in their proper deer management zone, county and land type. Any unit where the holiday hunt is not offered will be open for archery and crossbow hunting, and bucks may be taken.

Any legal firearm, crossbow or archery equipment may be used during the statewide antlerless-only and holiday hunts.

Wis. Consumer and Trade Agency looks at 2017 2017 was a year of transition at the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP). In August, Secretary Ben Brancel retired from state public service and returned to his family’s farm full-time. In November, Governor Walker appointed State Senator Sheila Harsdorf as the next Secretary. Even as leadership changed, the agency maintained its focus on Wisconsin’s farmers, consumers and businesses.

“When reflecting on 2017, the headline would undoubtedly be the challenge some dairy farmers faced in April when they suddenly lost their milk market,” said Secretary Harsdorf.

“Even when the situation was dire, it was uplifting to see how the industry came together like never before to support each other and find a home for 99% of the milk that was displaced.”

DATCP’s Farm Center staff worked to connect farmers with processors who had capacity to take on the additional milk. State and federal government officials collaborated to emphasize the need for free, fair and transparent trade policies. Consumers were encouraged to purchase and donate Wisconsin dairy products to support Wisconsin’s dairy farm families.

In May, then-Secretary Brancel shared lessons learned, highlighting the importance of communication between

farmers, processors, milk handlers, ag lenders, ag organizations, universities and government officials going forward.

Wisconsin agriculture continued to find great success marketing its products locally and beyond our nation’s borders. The state exported $2.6 billion in agricultural products to 144 countries during the first three quarters of 2017. This is an increase of 6.7 percent in value compared to the same period last year. In the New Year, DATCP will work to create new markets locally and internationally for Wisconsin’s diverse agricultural products.

Water quality continued to be a priority in 2017. DATCP entered into a three-year cooperative agreement with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and Peninsula Pride Farms to establish a Door-Kewaunee Demonstration Farm Network. The goal of the network is to demonstrate and share how well specific practices work to achieve conservation goals.

The Alice in Dairyland Program entered its eighth decade when Crystal Siemers-Peterman of Cleveland was named the 70th Alice in Dairyland at Lambeau Field in May. Siemers-Peterman carries on the legacy of the program sharing positive messages about Wisconsin’s agricultural prod-

ucts to both rural and urban audiences.

Consumers across Wisconsin felt the impact of a data breach reported

by Equifax in September. DATCP staff participated in online forums to give tips about what to do when your identity may have been stolen and provide resources on how to protect your personal information going forward.

When the Governor signed the state budget late this summer, Wisconsin farmers’ costs for pesticides and fertilizers were reduced. Local agribusinesses also benefitted from a fee holiday on surcharges they’ve been paying into the Agricultural Chemical Cleanup Program fund. The decreases were part of an overall effort to balance revenues and expenditures in DATCP’s Bureau of Agrichemical Management.

“At DATCP, our vision is to deliver efficient and effective programs and services,” explained Harsdorf. “We are committed to carrying out our core missions ensuring food and recreational safety for our families and protecting animal health in order to be competitive in the marketplace.”

The Division of Animal Health continued to implement its strategic plan to manage diseases by collaborating with industry and working with stakeholders. The Division of Food and Recreational Safety worked to answer

Monroe Clinic receives highest rating for Medicare treatment The newest report published on Medicare.gov revealed Monroe Clinic has achieved an overall 5-Star Rating from Medicare’s Hospital Compare program—the highest possible score.

A long-time advocate for Hospital Compare’s transparent healthcare quality reporting, CEO Mike Sanders recently shared the news with staff and leadership. The 5-star rating places Monroe Clinic in an elite group of healthcare performers.

“After being notified through a preview report, I was able to share the news with our board and the 1,220 employees who helped us reach this benchmark of excellence.

With the arrival of the New Year, we have an added reason to celebrate our roles as caregivers living our mission and bringing our best to the communities through God’s healing spirit,” said Sanders.

Sanders explained the updated data will soon be available on Medicare.gov’s Hospital Compare database, which allows visitors to enter their zip code then search and compare ratings from area hospitals.

Why 5 Stars is a “really big deal.”

“For this period only 7 % percent of the nation’s hospitals earned a 5-star rating from Medicare in all areas measured. It’s a rating standard that includes the review of over 4,500 hospitals nationwide.

Only 337 hospitals achieve the top, 5-star overall rating. It’s a really big deal!” said Mike Sanders, Monroe Clinic President & CEO. Sanders encourages patients to go to Medicare.gov and acquaint themselves with Hospital Compare tool, which includes an overall star rating of the nation’s hospitals, as well as individual ratings for specific quality factors including: patient experience, safety, effectiveness of care, patient re-admissions, efficient use of medical imaging, timeliness of care, and mortality.

“We’ve remained transparent by publicly reporting Monroe Clinic quality measures for years. It’s an effective way for us to stay accountable to our mission and to our customers,” said Sanders.

Medicare’s system is modeled after the star rating system used by hotels, restaurants and other service industries where consumers choose higher star rating facilities to help ensure the best experience possible.

“The same concept of providing consumers with information applies to Medicare’s star rating,” Sanders said. “But instead of customer reviews of who has the most comfortable bed or best continental breakfast, Medicare ratings are based on performance data that demonstrates how healthcare organizations deliver care to their customers.”

Drawing back the curtain on local healthcare’s quality measures

Hospital Compare was created through the efforts of Medicare and the Hospital Quality Alliance (HQA). The HQA was a public-private collaboration established in December 2002 to promote reporting on hospital quality of care.

Even as consumers are sometimes overwhelmed by the rankings and awards, these achievement recognitions serve an important purpose in the healthcare industry.

Chelsea Hardacre, Monroe Clinic Quality Director explained the Hospital Compare database has a direct and multi-dimensional impact on patients and the care they receive.

While community perception is usually the leading decider of local healthcare quality, the 5-star rating system helps empower patients to understand health care performance through a truly objective lens.

“The information collected by Medicare is evidence-driven and quantifiable. The database includes every hospital in the nation, but users can localize the information simply by entering their zip code. It speaks to real life patient experiences and outcomes. It also includes survey results, which offer patients an influential platform from which to evaluate their experience. It’s available to the public while keeping hospitals informed, motivated and accountable to the people who are trusting them with their health care,” said Hardacre.

****** Orfordville Lutheran Church held a Down Syndrome Fundraiser with an all you can eat spaghetti supper and silent auction All proceeds went to the Madison Area Down Syndrome Society. Motor Vehicle Crash-Personal Injury At 8:37 PM, Deputies responded to the N6600 block of CTH A, Town of Adams, for a two-vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that Timothy Adams, 34, of Argyle, was going southbound on CTH A when he crossed the centerline while negotiating a curve. Adams’ vehicle then struck a northbound vehicle operated by McKenzee J. Granberg, 16, of Blanchardville. Adams stated he was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt. There was no airbag deployment in his vehicle.

Granberg was wearing a seat belt.

Granberg was injured in the crash, but declined EMS. The air bags deployed in Granberg’s vehicle. Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene. Adams was cited for Operating a Vehicle While Suspended and Operating Left of Center and was released pending

court. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Argyle Police Department assisted at the scene.

Dec. 20 Motor Vehicle Crash-Personal Injury At 9:28 PM, Deputies responded to the N2400 block of CTH OK, Town of Spring Grove, for a one-vehicle crash. Aaron B. Kesler, 21, of Brodhead, was going southbound when he failed to negotiate a curve and entered a ditch where his vehicle overturned.

Kesler was injured in the crash, but declined EMS. Kesler was wearing a seat belt and the air bags deployed in the vehicle. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. Kesler was cited for Failure to Maintain Control of a Motor Vehicle and released pending court.

Dec. 23 Motor Vehicle Crash – Personal Injury At 5:50 PM, Deputies responded to

County Highway S and State Highway 11, Town of Jefferson, for a twovehicle accident with injuries. The investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Vickie L. Gill, age 59, of Rock City, IL, stopped at the stop sign on County Highway S before continuing south across the intersection with State Highway 11. As Gill’s vehicle crossed the roadway, her vehicle was struck by a westbound vehicle operated by Savanna L. Schaitel, age 18, of Janesville.

Gill reported wearing her seatbelt and sustained injuries in the crash.

She declined treatment at the scene.

Her vehicle sustained functional damage; there was no airbag deployment. The vehicle was driven from the scene. Gill was issued a citation for Failure to Yield Right of Way from a Stop Sign.

Schaitel reported wearing her seatbelt and sustained injuries in the crash. She was transported by am-

bulance to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room for treatment. Her vehicle sustained disabling damage and the airbags deployed. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Schaitel was issued a citation for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance.

Motor Vehicle Crash – Property Damage: A 7:12 PM, Deputies responded to the N7100 block of County Highway E, in the Town of Albany, for a one-vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that a vehicle operated

by Victoria J. Grochola, age 61, of Albany, was southbound when she lost control of her vehicle while negotiating a curve. The vehicle entered the west ditch and struck a barbed wire fence. Grochola and her passenger reported wearing their seatbelts and were not injured in the crash. The vehicle sustained minor damage; there was no airbag

Rackow, age 32, of rural Edgerton, was southbound on State Highway 69 when a second southbound vehicle, operated by Hector Reynoso Zamora, age 22, of Monroe, lost control and sideswiped Rackow’s vehicle.

Paint Prep (Full or Part-time opportunities 1st & 2nd Shift) – This general labor position involves preparation of the unit for the paint process; power washing, scraping, sanding, and material handling.

The ability to use basic hand tools is required, with occasional forklift operation.

Janitor (2ndShift) – The janitor position includes general office and plant cleaning and light building maintenance such as painting, floor stripping/waxing and carpet cleaning. A valid driver’s license is required.

Maintenance (Full or Part-time opportunities 2nd Shift) – Seeking an individual with a strong background in electrical maintenance with at least two years manufacturing maintenance experience and/or a technical diploma in electro/mechanical maintenance. The position will require install, repair and maintain metal fabricating equipment, including CO2 laser and plasma cutting machines, press brakes and shears, and MIG welding systems supporting production operations. Strong skills in industrial electricity, CNC, hydraulics, high pressure air, welding, torch cutting, carpentry, plumbing, and heating are preferred.

Painter (2nd Shift) – This position involves painting parts and units with an electrostatic spray gun while conforming to established quality standards. A vocational diploma in auto body and paint technology, with knowledge of coatings, coating systems, and electrostatic spray coating is preferred. Ability to read basic blueprints and measuring devices and wear a fully enclosed hood type air supplied respirator is required.

Dealer Development Specialist – Communications – The Dealer Development Specialist is responsible for communications, the development of communications tools, and the administration of assigned projects and programs to support the development and growth of the Kuhn North America dealer network in the US and Canada. Duties include serving as the export for the dealer intranet portal, publishing the monthly dealer newsletter, coordinating all dealer mailings projects, maintenance of all communication tools, coordinating fulfillment of new dealer materials, and conducting annual dealer sales award program, qualification and early order process. A bachelor’s or associate’s degree in agribusiness, marketing, communication or administration and knowledge of the agricultural industry is preferred. A demonstrated mechanical aptitude, knowledge of manufacturing processes (welding, assembly and paint prep), and cost of quality (i.e. scrap and rework) is also required.

Demonstrated knowledge of lean manufacturing/enterprise techniques is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) is also required. Second shift manufacturing shift hours are Monday – Thursday, 3:15 PM – 1:15 AM. International Logistics Specialist – The International Logistics Specialist is responsible for effectively coordinating and communicating international shipments, with an emphasis on imports, to ensure optimized distribution in regards to the timing of deliveries and cost management. Duties include maintaining the Customs Compliance Program and documentation, coordinating import activities for North American distribution centers, and collaborating with all departments to ensure timely import shipments.

Motor Vehicle Crash – Personal Injury: At 12:56 PM, Deputies responded to the N2000 block of Bagley Road, Town of Spring Grove, for a single car crash with injuries. Logan E. Ford, age 17, of Brodhead, was traveling north when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow-covered roadway. Logan’s vehicle entered the ditch and rolled over. Ford reported wearing his seatbelt and sustained minor injuries; he declined treatment at the scene. Ford’s vehicle sustained disabling damage; there was no airbag deployment. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Ford was warned for going too fast for conditions.

Motor Vehicle Crash – Property Damage: At 6:02 PM, Deputies responded to the W7000 block of Smock Valley Road, Town of Monroe, for a one-vehicle accident. Juan Pablo Garcia Garcia, age 20, of Monroe, was traveling west when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow/ice-covered roadway. The vehicle entered the north ditch and struck several trees before coming to rest. Garcia reported wearing his seatbelt and was not injured in the crash. The vehicle sustained disabling damage; there was no airbag deployment. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Garcia was cited for Operating Without a License.

Dec. 25 Motor Vehicle Crash – Property Damage At 8:36 PM, Deputies responded to the N2600 block of Halfway Tree Road, in the Town of Spring Grove, for a vehicle versus tree crash. A truck, operated by Clifford E. Winchell, age 50, of Brodhead, was northbound when he failed to negotiate a curve. The truck went into the east ditch and struck a tree. Winchell reported wearing his seatbelt and was not injured in the collision. The vehicle sustained moderate damage; there was no airbag deployment.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Snow/ice-covered roads were a contributing factor.

Dec. 26 Motor Vehicle Crash with Injuries At 7:30 AM, Deputies and Brodhead Police responded to the W400 Block of CTH E, Town of Decatur, for a one-vehicle crash.

Cindy M. Miller, 58, of Brodhead, lost control of her vehicle while negotiating a curve, entered the ditch, struck a fence and tree, and then came to rest. Cindy’s vehicle airbags did not deploy and the vehicle sustained disabling damage; it was removed from the scene by a tow truck. Cindy sustained minor injuries, but declined medical assistance. No citations issued.

Theft: At 3:41PM, Deputies took a report of a theft that occurred in the N1900 Block

of Brunkow Road, Town of Jefferson. The victim reported an engine hoist had been stolen from their property. The engine hoist was described as being red and blue in color, a 5-ton capability, and being approximately 8 feet long. No signs of forced entry were located at the property. No one had permission to take the engine hoist and there are suspects. The investigation is pending further information.

Dec. 31 Motor Vehicle Crash & Operate While Under the Influence At 6:38 AM deputies responded to the W4700 block of State Highway 11, Town of Jefferson for a one vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that Esteban Mejia Viveros, 24, of Monroe was westbound when the vehicle entered the ditch and struck a road sign. Mejia Viveros was not injured in the crash and was wearing his seat belt. The air bags deployed.

Mejia Viveros was arrested and cited for operate while under the influence (alcohol) 2nd offense, operating without a license, and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle. Mejia Viveros was released pending court. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.

Motor Vehicle Crash At 7:39 AM deputies responded to the W3300 block of Nye Rd, Town of Exeter, for a 1 vehicle crash. Investigation revealed Charles R. Bentayou, 55, of Monroe was eastbound on Nye Rd when he observed an animal run on to the road. Bentayou swerved to avoid the animal and the vehicle overturned. Bentayou was not injured in the crash and was wearing his seat belt.

The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle had severe damage and was towed from the scene.

Warrant Arrest At 10:16 AM deputies responded to a residence in the N4200 block of Park Rd, Town of Decatur. Ryan M. Richardson, 35, of Brodhead was arrested on a warrant that was issued by Wisconsin Department of Community Corrections. Richardson was jailed.

Motor Vehicle Crash At 12:28 PM deputies responded to the W6600 block of Voegli Rd, Town of Monroe, for a one vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a 16-year-old female of Monroe was westbound on Voegli Rd when her vehicle entered the ditch and struck a TDS phone pedestal. Snider was not injured in the crash and was wearing her seat belt.

The air bags deployed in the vehicle. The vehicle had moderate damage and was towed from the scene.
