Rock County announces vaccine advisory committee Multiple organizations have come together to form a Vaccine Advisory Committee in Rock County to coordinate vaccine efforts throughout the county. The group includes leadership from Rock County’s COVID-19 planning and coordination team and representatives from key vaccination providers for critical population groups, as well as representatives from other sectors within the community. The group will address all aspects of vaccine distribution, including coordination, administration, distri-

bution and communication. “The Vaccine Advisory Committee will work together to build effective plans for all phases of the vaccine distribution process and ensure transparent communication with our community stakeholders along the way,” Sgt. Shena Kohler, Rock County emergency management director, said in a news release. According to the release, the group will “work collaboratively to ensure equitable access to the COVID-19 vaccine in Rock County.” Alison Chouinard of the Rock

County Public Health Department will serve as the Rock County vaccine coordinator. “We know many people are anxious to get the COVID-19 vaccine,” Chouinard said. “We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work

through this very complicated process.” More information and instructions on how to request a vaccine will be coming soon for Phase 1A unaffiliated health care workers. Others will receive information when they

become eligible for the vaccine. Residents are advised to watch the news and follow the Rock County Public Health social media pages and website, co.rock.wi.us/publi chealth, for updates as they become available.

Monroe Clinic allows inpatient visitors One visitor per patient is now being allowed in Monroe Clinic’s inpatient unit after officials updated the visitor policy last week. The following inpatient visitor guidelines are in place: • Visitors must be over 18 years of age. • Visitors may only enter the building one time per day. Once a visitor leaves, they will not be permitted to return until the following day. • Visitors will be asked to complete a health screening, including temperature, prior to entering Monroe Clinic facilities. • Visitors are always required to maintain social distancing and cover their nose and mouth with a face covering while on-site. This is without exception. • Anyone with a positive exposure to COVID-19 or elevated temperature will not be allowed entry without approval by an administrative supervisor. The no-visitor policy at in-clinic appointments remains the same as it has been since early November. One accompanying visitor may still be allowed for pediatric patients and for patients whose cognitive, physical or emotional abilities make a visitor an essential part of caring for the patient. If either criteria are met, then the visitor will be screened before being allowed to proceed to the visit with the patient. “We will continue to adjust our policies and make decisions rooted in safeguarding and caring for our patients, visitors, caregivers and the community at large,” a Monroe Clinic news release said. Albrecht students dress for reading adventures

Albrecht Elementary School students have enjoyed several dress-up days during this month’s special reading program, “‘Book a Trip’ Reading Takes Us Everywhere.” Students have dressed for a trip to the beach, the wild west and even the jungle. Students were challenged to decipher the clues and figure out where their teachers took virtual trips in Principal Dave Novy’s travel machine.
