For residents looking to register as a voter, receive a U.S. passport, or pick up a well water test kit, the Antioch Township Supervisor’s Office is the place for them. Residents can also apply for a reduced fare RTA pass, apply for general or emergency assistance, Salvation Army assistance, among several other services. Liz Heffernan and Merry Ladewig are there Monday through Friday to assist residents with those services. Heffernan is there all day and Ladewig is there from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. The list of services is about to grow. Heffernan will be trained to help with applications for two programs, LIHEAP (Low Income Heating Energy Assistance Program) and SHIP (Senior Health Insurance Program). Later this fall, residents will be able to apply for both at the township office close to home, instead of traveling to Lake County offices in Waukegan. While some lower income residents who are working can apply for NICOR assistance for natural gas heating, there are those who may not qualify because their income is too low. “LIHEAP will serve residents with the lowest income and many of those

‘Treasure Island’ to come to Antioch
“Treasure Island” will run for three more days starting on Friday, Sept. 29, and will end on Sunday, Oct. 1, at PM&L Theatre, 877 Main St., Antioch. The play is based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s book and was adapted by Ken Ludwig. “Treasure Island” is an unforgettable tale of treachery and mayhem, featuring a host of legendary swashbucklers including the dangerous Billy Bones, the sinister two-timing Israel Hands; the brassy woman pirate Anne Bonney and the hideous form of evil incarnate, Blind Pew. At the center of it all are Jim Hawkins, a 14-year-old boy who longs for adventure, and the infamous Long John Silver, perhaps the most famous hero-villain of all time.
