state line to the Bristol Renaissance Faire. Once visitors enter the gates of the mythical city, they are immediately immersed into the Elizabethan world on 30 acres of wooded land. The Faire features thousands of cast members, dressed in 16th century wardrobe, which is also worn by hundreds of visitors. The journey through the grounds boasts live music and dancing as visitors walk the streets, where they see
food stands, stages, and parades as people await the Queen’s arrival. The highlight is the jousting tournament where armored knights on their groomed steeds display their talents to the queen. Each knight shows his colors with plumes attached to the helmet and his colors adorning his horse. Each knight first displays his skills, including attempting to extricate a ring from a pole with his sword as he barrels by on his steed. In later
rounds, the knights compete to topple each other from their mounts, each striving to become the top mount of the Queen’s brigade. The town has 16 stages featuring an array of entertainment that appeals to any age. Enjoy a mud show, the fire whip performance, magic performances, or the Barely Balanced comedy and acrobatic show, and other performances.

By Gail Peckler-Dziki CORRESPONDENT
Lauri and Trent Tobias, proprietors of Great Lakes Antiques and Boutique appeared at the Antioch Village Board committee of the whole meeting on July 26 to request a liquor license. The store not only carries antiques, but Lauri Trent travels the U.S., buying women’s’ clothing to sell in the store. Trent said husbands of shoppers are requesting more to do while their wives shop. “Our customers tell us that there is nothing like this in Antioch,” he said. “We are bringing something to the village that people want.” “We would like to have wine-tasting, offer craft beers and have five video games,” he explained. “We want to host planned events where liquor is served,” Trent said. The state allows any business with a liquor license to have five video game machines; the village has discretion as to which it will grant a license. Currently, Antioch
