but it is likely that ACHS was one of the first Tri-M chapters founded, and was inactive for a few years before being reactivated in 2011 by orchestra teacher Michael Riggs. Riggs serves as chapter head. There are currently 32 members, and new fine arts students are encouraged to apply for membership each fall semester. The group is for music students only, based on the national rules and regulations, however art students can be part of the National Art Honor Society, and
Theater students have The Thespian Society. ACHS has active chapters of both organizations in addition to Tri-M. Tri-M brings band, orchestra, and choir students together into one organization that devotes themselves to music in the community, not just the classroom. It encourages musicians to learn how to collaborate with others and helps students learn to perform on their own.

Wisconsin woman charged in Antioch armed robbery A Wisconsin woman, along with a man from Lake Villa, were each charged for their roles in the armed robberies of two Antioch restaurants last week. Delores R. Hillary, 21, of Lake Geneva, is accused of robbing Taco Bell on March 17 along with attempting to rob Culver’s on two occasions, according to the Village of Antioch Police Department. She is charged with armed robbery, aggravated robbery and burglary. Meanwhile, her accomplice, Joseph D. Shaffer, 32, faces a charge of accomplice to aggravated robbery. Hillary, who remains in the Lake County Jail on a $200,000 cash bond, allegedly went behind the counter of Taco Bell, 322 W. Route 173, and took an undetermined amount of cash and fled the
scene before officers arrived. During the investigation, officers learned she had been involved in an earlier Delores R. attempted Hillary armed robbery of Culver’s, 451 E. Route 173. On March 22, officers responded to Culver’s, where they found Hillary sitting at Joseph D. Shaffer a table and arrested her without incident. “Officers then learned that they had interrupted an armed robbery committed by the fe-
male subject, identified as Delores Hillary,” Antioch Police said. “Seconds before law enforcement arrived on scene, Hillary had delivered a hand-written note to a Culvers employee, demanding money.” Hillary, according to officers, displayed a firearm from her waistband during the attempted robbery and authorities learned the firearm was a pellet gun. Investigators, meanwhile, discovered Shaffer allegedly transported Hillary to Culver’s, where authorities found him inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the establishment. Shaffer, arrested without incident, was being held in Lake County Jail on a $75,000 cash bond. The two will appear at an April 10 hearing in Lake County Circuit Court.
