Casting call for adult wizards, witches and other magical beings By Sandra Landen Machaj CORRESPONDENT

Come one, come all, come to the casting call. Here is your chance to be an important part of this year’s Wizards Weekend Day. No reason to stand by and watch your children enjoy being a part of this magical event when you can be part of the cast that helps to turn the area into the magical world of wizards and witches. Last summer, when historic downtown Antioch was transformed into this magical land known as Hogsmeade, home to wizards, witches and Muggles, the area became a mystical place. It was a time of excitement and happiness for the children attending this first Wizards Weekend.

It was a time of fun and excitement as young wizards and witches attended the Hogwart’s School of Magic, opened to those from 7 to 12 years of age. They enjoyed a variety of magical activities and learned magical skills. While children were busy indulging, did adults wish they were attending Hogwarts School or teaching in that School of Magic? So, if you were one of many who wished they were of the right age group throughout downtown Antioch that day, this is the year to come to the casting call and perhaps become a teacher. At 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, there will be a casting call for adult characters to participate in the Wizards

Weekend Day, which is scheduled on Saturday, June 16. The HP characters are needed to participate primarily in the Hogwarts School of Magic and at the Wizards grand banquet. They also will be needed at other magical activities. To participate in the casting call, arrive dressed in character as your favorite adult wizard or witch character from the land of Harry Potter. Bring your magic or smart wand. They will be looking for adults to portray a variety of characters, including professors, death eaters, dementors and any other characters of your choice. The casting call will be held in the Antioch Community Building, 844 Main St.

This was the ninth Traveling Closet event put together by the event’s founder, Lisa Fisher, and a growing number of volunteers who work with her to make the affair one of the village’s best known happenings. Over 300 people attended the event.
