On August 31, Lake Coun ty State’s Attorney Eric Rine hart launched a new, more accessible website for his of fice:Rinehartlcsao.org.said, “The mis sion of our office is to make Lake County safer and fairer, to protect Lake County, and support victims of crime. This new website helps achieve that mission by providing a more streamlined user experi ence so crime victims can eas ily find assistance and provide feedback. It’s more accessible to those with disabilities, pro vides transparency regarding our legal system, and better supports those we serve – our neighbors in Lake County.”

The 2022 Lake County Summer Youth Employment Program recently wrapped up another exciting summer as 165 youth gained meaningful work experience while earn ing a paycheck. Funded by the Lake County Board, this program was offered in a hy brid format this year with an option for youth participants to partake in the traditional model working at a physical location or to participate in an online Work Readiness Boot camp.

Darlene was able to start work ing on day one, helping in the kitchen, packing lunches, and baking cookies that are sold at a café that was recently opened by the Roberti Community House. Darlene learned how to make a delicious peach coffee cake. She expressed that this work experience has been a great opportunity for her to gain valuable skills and meet new people. Darlene shared that this experience has helped her gain confidence in her role in work ing with students. She has been able to save money for college and is exploring a future career as anRogerengineer.was interested in a summer work experience and applied for the Summer Youth Employment Program 2022. He had no experience with gar dening. He was able to learn the skill and technique quickly and has extensive knowledge about gardening. Preliminary investigation shows the victim, who lives in the area, went outside to speak with individuals who were being loud on the lakeshore, shortly after 1:00 a.m. on September 17. On September 17, at ap proximately 10:45 a.m., Grayslake Police Officers were dispatched to North western Medicine Center Grayslake for a report of a gunshot victim. The victim, a 23-year-old man, was pro nounced deceased shortly af ter arriving at the hospital.

On September 17, Lake County Major Crime Task Force Investigators and Lake County Forest Preserve Police conduced a search warrant at the residence of Nicholas M. Caban, 20, of the 3400 block of Dato Avenue Highland Park, pursuant to this inves tigation. Caban is one of the two individuals involved in this incident. During the search warrant, investigators located a semiautomatic pistol in Caban’s bedroom. The fire arm had no identifiable serial numbers.Thefirearm located at Caban’s residence was not used in the incident which took place in the forest pre serve.The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charge of unlawful pos session of a firearm without a serial number (class 3 felo ny).
