Antioch launches community scavenger hunt Participants will uncover the myths, legends, and lore of Antioch
The Village of Antioch announced that it is launching its first-ever interactive game to explore Antioch’s history. The monthlong scavenger hunt features the incredible stories of Antioch people and places. From the Pottawatomi tribes that inhabited the land until the 1800s, to the go-to prohibition era hangout for Bugs Moran, to legendary ghost hauntings. no legendary stone will be left unturned. Whether playing throughout the month or for just a day, participants will uncover clues throughout the community, answer trivia questions, shop locally and win prizes. Uncover Antioch started on October 15 and will continue through Saturday, Nov. 27. “We are excited to launch a new and fun event for the Antioch area,” said Antioch Mayor Scott Gartner. “Uncover Antioch is an exciting way to showcase our community’s rich history, while also providing a fun activity for the entire family. Plus, it is a unique way to bring more people out into the Antioch area.” Players with the highest points in the Eventzee app will win prizes, including gift cards to local businesses and Antioch swag. The hunt is designed so that the more participants explore and uncover, the more points they’ll earn. In addition to showcasing the Antioch business community, the scavenger hunt will emphasize the region’s rich history. Lakes Area Historical Society Director Ainsley Wonderling is excited to see local history front and center. “This concept is really an innovative and fun way to teach local history to residents and visitors of Antioch,” said Wonderling.
