Volo Bog State Natural Area announces annual nature photo contest winners

The winners of the Volo Bog State Natural Area’s 35th Annual Nature Photo Contest were announced on Sunday, Jan. 9. The winning photos will remain on display at the Volo Bog Visitor Center through Sunday, Feb. 27. Ribbons and plaques will be presented to the photographers during intermissions of the “Breaking Up Winter” event. The annual competition and show is presented each year by Volo Bog State Natural Area, the Friends of Volo Bog and the ShutterBugs of Volo Bog. A total of 151 entries were submitted by 17 photographers in ten categories. Visitors to the State Natural Area from October 23 – January 7 were asked to vote for their favorite in each category, and for their favorite overall. First, second and third place ribbons are awarded to the top vote recipients in each category. A plaque is awarded to first place in each category, as well as to the two Bests of Show, Peoples’ Choice and Judges’ Choice awards.
