10:46 p.m. – conducting building check found door unlocked on South Wisconsin Street. Officer checked interior and found nothing suspicious. Alerted emergency contact to get someone to lock the door.

Sept. 16 1:09 a.m. – someone at residence – no one living there currently on North Broad Street. Officers arrived on scene. Nobody answered officer knocked multiple times. No signs of break in or property damage. Caller stated would call homeowner in the morning.

3:55 a.m. – vehicle parked downtown past 3 a.m. Per signage, no parking between 3 to 6 a.m. Citation issued.

11:20 a.m. – found small dog running loose in EPD parking lot on West Walworth Street. Was putting the dog in cage the owner came into lobby the dog had jumped out of his car in our parking lot.

1:20 p.m. – McHenry has warrant on subject that no longer lives there on East First Avenue.

5:14 p.m. – noticed bikes riding in the road going the wrong way in traffic on North Church Street. Then realized there were trucks parked over the sidewalk. Unloading brush, safety risk. They moved trucks.

8:12 p.m. – asking for officer to assist with loading things into vehicle as has trouble walking and uses a cane on North Lincoln Street.

Officer assisted.

10:55 p.m. – loud exhaust and no registration on South

Lincoln Street. Vehicle was stopped and driver had restrictions on license. Vehicle was just purchased by passenger who was revoked.

Driver issued citation.

Sept. 18 1:51 a.m. – located front door unlocked on South Wisconsin Street. Interior checked and all appeared okay. Back door was secure.

Unable to secure so key holder was called.

4:30 a.m. – fire alarm on West O’Connor Drive. Upon arrival with the fire chief we were informed the location in the main lobby. Fire chief stated it must have been a malfunction.

3:44 p.m. – responded to employee who was terminated and refusing to leave the property on East Commerce Court. Was very irrational and did not want to listen. A ride showed up was warned not to return to the property.

7:15 p.m. – officer dispatched to check welfare on subject walking with blanket on County Trunk H. Checked area and did not find anyone.

8:59 p.m. – informed of fireworks at live music party on East Geneva Street. Given warning.

10:20 p.m. – vehicle in closed school parking lot and subject inside school on West Hazel Ridge Road. Plate came back to custodial staff.

10:43 p.m. – found open door while conducting building check on North Country Club Parkway. Went through building and found no suspicious activity. Officers able to secure the door.

Sept. 19 1:51 a.m. – officer observed an unoccupied vehicle

diagonal. Officer responded there were tire marks from ramp west to Highway 12 east. Driver was arrested for OWI. 2:40 p.m. – officer checked area for report of lab hit by car on North Wisconsin Street. Did not observe anything on either side of the road.

3:25 p.m. – responded to alarm on East Koopman Lane. Building was cleared and all appeared okay.

4:36 p.m. – bicycle taken from the front yard on Voss Road. Stated it was left near the road and when speaking with caller stated maybe someone picked it up thinking it was garbage. Located on the rummage sale sight on Facebook. Bike returned to the PD. Owner notified and will come to pick up.

6:24 p.m. – subject walking and looking into vehicle windows, the ones that had the windows down on West Rockwell Street. Caller states didn’t reach into any. Officer located the male. Identified himself and said he was looking under cars for a phone that he lost.

7:48 p.m. – officers responded to the fairgrounds individual representing the fairgrounds on East Court Street. Was made aware of numerous noise complaints.

Was asked to turn down the music. He advised they were given a 9 p.m. curfew. He was advised the noise ordinance does not specify a time.

9:08 p.m. – officers advised of a crash on East First Avenue. Arrived and found the striking vehicle had left the scene. Obtained photos of Sept. 20 4:24 a.m. – on the ramp to the striking vehicles license Highway 12 from North Wis- plate. An attempt-to-locate consin Street vehicle sitting was broadcast. at a closed business on East Koopman Lane. Doors were locked on the vehicle and building was secure.

4:31 a.m. – assisted deputy with traffic stop involving marijuana on Schmidt Road.

Officer stood by while deputy conducted fields and completed vehicle search. Arrested adult.

6:41 a.m. – person walking wrapped in a blanket on County Trunk H. Made contact was walking in search of animal bones along side the road. Subject not in need of any assistance.

9:31 a.m. – complainant wanted it reported that someone had damaged republican signs on property on North Wisconsin Street.

1:27 p.m. – received an anonymous complaint of burning on West Randall Place. Officers observed portable commercial pit was in compliance with city ordinance.

3:02 p.m. – DOC requesting a welfare check on West Sunflower Street. Required to be monitored with GPS tracking equipment received tamper signals. Officers did make contact with subject and GPS unit all okay.

6:21 p.m. – semi cut corner struck power pole still up was wobbling on East Geneva Street. Officer observed tire rub marks on the pole and appeared to still be structurally sound. Unable to locate the truck.

11:49 p.m. – side door unlocked on South Washington Street. Officers checked inside and found nothing suspicious.

Attorney withdraws from babysitter assault case

A status conference was scheduled for Oct. 14 for a Genoa City man charged with sexually assaulting a girl who was babysitting his children.

An attorney representing Jessie R. Kasten, 31, withdrew from the case, and a new attorney took the case. Kasten is charged with attempted first-degree sexual assault, having sexual contact with a child younger than 13.

If no agreement is reached at a November pretrial conference, a two-day jury trial is expected to take place in December.

According to the criminal complaint, the 16-year-old girl said when she was 12 years old, she babysat Kasten’s children at a home in Delavan.

She said after she got the children to sleep, Kasten began massaging the girl’s shoulders, took off the girl’s shirt, told her to lie down on the bed and continued to massage her back, according to the complaint. The girl said Kasten unhooked her bra, lay next to her, massaged her belly, and put his hand down her pants and underwear, the complaint states.

The girl said Kasten then

asked, “What do you want?” and disclosed that he’d been molested as a child, the complaint states.

Kasten admitted massaging the girl’s back and rubbing her stomach and said he stopped because the girl’s mom arrived, according to the complaint.

Kasten has been convicted of multiple counts of fourth-degree sexual assault for groping women without their permission and was charged in another case, which was subsequently dismissed, with sexually assaulting a woman who babysat his kids, according to the complaint.

Jonas Pieters, 22, was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child, first-degree sexual assault of a child by use or threat of force or violence and repeated sexual assault of a child. The first-degree sexual assault charge was dismissed

told her mother that Edelman had been touching her inappropriately for a couple of months.

The girl said Edelman had told her “there would be a lot of problems” if she told her mother, according to the complaint.

According to the complaint, Edelman was released from prison on Jan. 9, 2018, was not to supposed to have contact with the mother and is on supervision with the Department of Corrections.

Edelman has convictions in Racine and Walworth counties for substantial battery, drunken driving, bail jumping and theft.

The girl told a forensic interviewer that on multiple occasions, Edelman had asked her to cuddle and then would touch her inappropriately while at a home in the Town of Bloomfield, according to the complaint.

Police were called to Farmer’s Town of Geneva home Aug. 10 where Farmer had crashed his bicycle and was bleeding heavily, according to the complaint. An officer applied a tourniquet to Farmer’s arm, which was spurting blood, and found a mason jar that contained 12 grams of marijuana on the

• Carneil L. Redmond, 36, of Whitewater; possession with intent to deliver marijuana, two counts of possession of a firearm while intoxicated, disorderly conduct, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

According to the criminal complaint, Redmond was found with two loaded guns, marijuana, a large amount of cash, and a marijuana grinder and bowl after police were called to his home twice April 24 – once for a family offense and again for

arming himself with a gun and appearing as though he planned to retaliate against the neighbors whom he believed notified police.

Vyvanse is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

On the other occasions, the girl said, she snuck Pieters into her Barnes Street home where they had sex and had sex in a park down the street from her house, according to the complaint. The girl said she felt pressured because Pieters would comment about hurting himself if they didn’t have sex, the complaint states.

delayed for man charged with assaulting child A final pretrial conference is scheduled for Nov. 24 for a Burlington man charged with sexually assaulting a girl in the Town of Bloomfield.

If the state does not reach an agreement next month with Michael J. Edelman, 35, a threeday jury trial will take place Dec. 21 to 23.

A pretrial conference and trial were previously scheduled for March and April and then September.

Edelman was charged July 18, 2018, in Walworth County Circuit Court with repeated sexual assault of a child as a repeater. He appeared in court Sept. 14 via telephone after sending a letter to the court Sept. 10 requesting that his trial be reset.

According to the criminal complaint, an 11-year-old girl

on a prosecutor’s motion June 8, and one of the second-degree sexual assault charges and repeated sexual assault of a child were dismissed as part of a plea agreement in which Pieters pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree sexual assault of a child. He was sentenced on that charge Aug. 24.

According to the criminal complaint, a juvenile reported sexual assaults that took place on three occasions in Delavan when she was 14 years old. The girl said she had sex with Pieters, and, at least once, the contact was forced, and the girl was held down during the incident, according to the complaint.

She said the first sexual encounter was around July, the second was around August and the third, the one in which she was held down, was around Sept. 1 or 2 at the home of a boyfriend of hers, according

This year’s event, “The Magic of Giving,” will include a silent and live auction, a paddle raise, a raffle, and highlighting some of the individual nonprofits that will benefit from funds raised. Entertainment will be provided by renowned magician, Tristan Crist.

Giving Back to Our Community Sometimes the sun shines and the road is clear, while at other times we get hit with an unexpected storm or flat tire. Whatever happens, in a community such as ours, someone is always there to lend a helping hand.

Each year the Keefe Kares Foundation has held an annual celebration to help raise funds for local nonprofit organizations. The celebration is open to the public with live and silent auctions.

In 2019, the event raised $45,000 that went toward supporting 33 different local nonprofit organizations.

Over the past 25 years, Keefe Real Estate has been proud to play a role in supporting our local community. We focus this support through our Keefe Kares program, a 501(c)3 organization run and supported by Keefe associates.
