Old Settlers Days is returning in its 18th year of bringing family fun to the Stateline. The four-day festival starts on June 15 and runs until June 18 at Settlers Park in Rockton. A four day admission passes costs $6 in advance or $10 at each starting June 15. Main stage concert tickets require an additional ticket. Children under 12 do not require a four day pass. Main Stage concert tickets are $20 in advance and $25 if purchased at the door. Weekend wrist bands may be purchased at a special rate of $85. This special saves $45 from at the gate pricing which includes: Admission to the festival grounds all four days, the carnival, food court plus all of the concerts on both the main and festival stages. Tickets must be redeemed for wristbands which must be worn all weekend. Start the OSD event out by giving the gift of life from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Greater Rockton Centre on the festivals opening day of June 15. Those who give blood will receive a free OSD admission pass. Those who bring a pair of used eyeglasses to be recycled will receive a second free pass. Gates to OSD fun will open to loads of fun. Get ready to take a spin on carnival rides and play games at a midway by Skinner’s Amusements. Different food booths will cater to every taste and budget. Start Saturday off by entering the OSD parade or come as a spectator. Various vendors will have items to purchase. A fun run to benefit the Carrie Lynn Center has added a second option catering to those who may be unable to run or walk in the 5K. The option of helping from your couch has been added with a Zero-K. All participants also receive an OSD5K shirt, festival pass and admission to the post run breakfast. Those who opt to join in the fun on race day can line up with participants who are walking and finish the race at the starting line. Those who are up for a competitive challenge will want to be part of the fun run. The course is USATF Certified. The 5K is slated for June 18. Runners start at 8 a.m. Walkers leave 10 minutes after. Following check in, and packet pickups, an opening ceremony consists of a colors presentation and singing of our National Anthem. The course begins at the Hononegah High School south parking lot. Registration fees for adults are $30, and children 12 and under, $20. Late registration fees after June 1 are $40. Mail in registration may be done online at RunSignUp.com, or can be mailed in to Rockton PD, Sgt. Dean Camacho, and 110 East Main Street, Rockton, IL. 61072. All participants get cool swag items such as the 2015 OSD Techshirt, OSD four day festival pass if over 12 years of age, and OSD 5K water bottle, free admission to the Rockton Volunteer Associa-
tion pancake breakfast, plus other awesome goodies! Results will be tallied by a professional electronic bib chip timing method. Age divisions run eight and under to ages up to over 70. Best overall male and female, and top three finishers in each age group earn an OSD 5K medal, and a meet and greet pass for the main performer that evening. The top three finishers per division will be awarded per placement. Country music fans are in luck as stars Trace Adkins and Jake Owen are two well-known headliners performing on the OSD Main State. Four nights will feature these country stars along with
Granger Smith -featuring Earl Dibbles Jr., and Tyler Farr. The Cadillac Three, Smithfield, Jackie Lee, Walker McGuire and Kassi Ashton will warm up the crowds. Different genres of musical entertainment will be heard on the Festival stage. Listen to sounds of Dirt Road Rebelz, Audio Drive, Hip Pocket, Jamie Campbell and the Redneck Romeos, Brutal Wedgie, Kevin Burns- Good Vibrations, Dirty Fishnet Stockings, and Cole Brandt. Family fun comes in the form of magic performed by the very talented Johnny Silver. With road construction underway the Old Settlers Days com-
mittee recommends using different routes to come into Rockton such as Highway 2. Thanks to a partnership between the Rockton Lions Club, Chemtool and Laidlaw Bus Company shuttle busses will be available to ride over to festival grounds from the Chemtool parking lot. An informational booth, a beer tent, raffle tickets, and a Lions Den VIP tent add extra fun options. A full list of events and activity schedules can be located on the Rockton Lions Club Old Settlers Days website. Also included are details on the Carrie Lynn Center benefit race and the parade for
those who would like to participate. Rounding out the festival fireworks will fill the sky with colorful splendor on Sunday evening; weather permitting. Profits of the OSD festival will be given back to the community through various donations. Organizations assisted by the Rockton Lions Club include but are not limited to: The Center for Sight and Hearing, Boy Scout Troop#619, Talcott Library, and the Old Stone Church Food Pantry. Money that was raised from last year’s OSD festival went toward building a new shelter house at the Rockton Athletic Fields.
