I loved the sounds and smells of the barn on those cool fall nights as the cows lay down in the fresh straws after milking. They would chew their cud to the beat of the pulsators on the milking machine and just relax as their bodies started working to produce more milk. Eventually we all ended up in the house at the supper table happy and content to be little farmers helping to get the harvest in and the milking chores done at the end of another day.

I saw a great video this week called “The Way of the Master”.

There was a statement on the video that read, “Try denying God’s existence after watching this”. It was very compelling as it showed the intricate detail of nature like how crops grow, how a cow manufactures milk, how a bee makes and stores honey, and how the human eyes, ears and skeleton work. It is just an amazing little twenty-five minute video, and you can find it on youtube. Anyway, it really lays out plain and simple how much God has done for us even though we may not realize it or admit it. He has given us such a wondrous creation to enjoy, and some people have the audacity to blow it off and even declare that there is no such thing as God. That

somehow evolution is responsible for the details of the circulatory system, for instance. Of course there are tens of thousands of other detailed creative works of God that we get to experience daily.

When we come to our senses and realize that God did indeed make it all for us to enjoy, we should be overwhelmed with thankfulness to Him for His handiwork. And to think on top of all that He has also provided a way of salvation for our souls through faith in Jesus Christ His only son so we can be with Him forever. It really should drive us to our knees every day. After all it is prayer that helps to open our eyes and hearts to the real truth of God’s existence and love for us.

Our church in Browntown has been in the middle of a noon prayer revival for the past month or so.

Each day at noon sharp our phone alarms go off and wherever we are we all stop and ask the Holy Spirit to come and bring revival to our souls, our families, our church and our community. It’s been just an incredible experience as we have seen God do some amazing miracles, yes miracles. I have even asked several other pastors to ask their people to join us in our noon prayer time each day, and some other churches are now joining in.

I would love to see this catch on in communities all over the area.

So please join in each day at noon and let’s praise God for the wonder of His creation, His great gift of salvation through faith in Christ and that He will fill us with His Holy Spirit to bring revival to our hearts.

We finally had some dry days last week, and the combines are finally rolling across the still soggy fields here in southern Wisconsin. The harvest is finally coming in strong.

Each new fall season takes me back to the days when we boys would clamber off the bus at the end of the school day, scurry into the house, change into our work clothes, grab a fresh homemade roll and race out to the corn field as fast as we could.

We then would climb up into the wagon that was bouncing along behind the tractor and corn picker.

We loved riding up in those wagons as the corn cobs came flying in from the picker. Sometimes we would hop out and walk behind the wagon, and find ears that were missed. We kept a count of the ears we picked up and threw into the wagon. We then figured out how many ears made up a full bushel, did the math and reported to my Dad on pay day how many bushels we had picked up. He would then pay us whatever the going rate was for a bushel of corn. It was a great way to teach us how to work and learn some long division in the process.

Our corn picker was mounted on an old Cockshutt tractor. My Dad would fill the wagons and then pull them up to the buildings while we were at school. He would unload them into old Kewanee elevator that carried the corn to the top of the corn crib and then dropped the cobs down to the floor of the crib.

Slowly load by load the crib would fill up. When we got home from school my older brothers would haul loads while us younger kids rode in the wagons or picked up ears. It was all great fun. When it started to get dark my Dad would drive the picker up to the shed and we would all start the evening milking chores. We each had our own jobs to do like feeding the cows grain and hay, feeding the baby calves milk, and feeding the
