Police investigating armed robbery attempt on Cayuga Ave.

According to a release issued by Chief Michael Ruth of the Elmhurst Police Department, police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that was reported in the 300 block of Cayuga Ave. on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 9:45 p.m. The victim told police that while he was out walking his dog, he noticed a light colored or white SUV pass him several times on Cayuga Ave. A brief time later, two suspects exited the vehicle displaying a black handgun. They demanded money and patted the victim down. Subsequently, nothing was taken and the offenders fled the scene westbound on Wilson from Cayuga. The two suspects were both described as male/black wearing black cloth masks. Suspect #1 was 18-20 years old, 5-foot-8 about 160 pounds; Suspect #2 was approximately 30 years old, 5-foot-10 about 200 pounds. This incident remains under active investigation. Anyone who has information about this incident or who may have video from the area is asked to contact the Elmhurst Police Department at 630-530-3050.

City to host 20th anniversary 9/11 ceremony

On Saturday, Sept. 11 beginning at 8:30 a.m., the public is invited to Fire Station #2 at 601 S. York St., where the City of Elmhurst will hold a special 20th anniversary 9/11 ceremony. The ceremony will include not only City staff and elected officials, but also members of the Elmhurst Police and Fire Departments. The event is free and open to the community.
