A chance to PIG OUT! DEE LONGFELLOW PHOTO Elmhurst Independent

Pictured here are the participants in the rib-eating contest held on Sunday, Sept. 3 at the ‘Cue for a Cause barbecue event to support the Elmhurst Walk-in Assistance Network (EWAN). Each rib-eater was given a rubber pig snout to wear on their nose, but most wore them on their heads instead. Behind the rib-eaters is EWAN Executive Director Jackie Crnkovich (with microphone) who organizes the entire event. At the far left is Jim Lawshe of Barbecue Jim’s (in apron) who served as the judge of the eating contest. Next to him in the black tee is Doug Beach, director of the Elmhurst College Jazz Band, which performed at the event. Beach’s own jazz performer Luke Stilwell (at the far end of the table) won the contest, eating 23 ribs — three ribs shy of two full slabs! More photos inside.
