District 205 Board discusses policies for upcoming school year Health and Safety Plan approved

The Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 Board held a special meeting on Wednesday, July 28 at the District 205 Center, 162 S. York St. Board member Athena Arvanitis was absent from the meeting. County reports 75 percent increase in COVID-19 cases Delta variant blamed for surge across the country

On Wednesday, July 21, The DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) reported a 75 percent increase in COVID-19 cases and a 44 percent increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations over the previous week among DuPage County residents. At that time, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) projected that the Delta variant was comprising more than 83 percent of new COVID-19 cases across the country and was creating a higher level of risk for unvaccinated people.
In DuPage County, as of Wednesday, July 28, DuPage County’s COVID-19 community transmission was considered at “Substantial” level per the CDC. The recent rise in cases and hospitalizations is also attributed to the more contagious Delta variant. Vaccines continue to be the best form of protection against COVID-19, including the Delta variant, and help prevent severe illness, hospitalization, and death.
