York athletics cuts the ribbon on a new campus fitness center Boosters Club donates $100,000 to upgrade student workout area
York High School student athletes helped cut the ribbon on a new campus fitness center Monday evening. The state-of-the-art workout gym grew from vision to reality thanks to a generous $100,000 donation from
the York Athletic Boosters. The York Athletic Department partnered with the Elmhurst District 205 School Board to allocate the remaining $20,000 needed for the renovation project.
“We are grateful to the York Athletic Boosters for the hard work to underwrite a large portion of the project and the Board of Education for sharing in our vision,” said District 205 School Superintendent Da-
vid Moyer. “York is proud to have a state-of-the art fitness center to greatly help students achieve their athletic and life fitness goals.” The new fitness center includes 16-universal, multi-use weight racks
and banks of treadmills, elliptical machines, and bikes for cardio workouts. In addition to sports and physical education, any student may use the center to assist with their personal wellness and fitness objectives.
