At the July 12 meeting of the District 205 School Board, Todd Schmidt, the district’s director of facilities, provided an update on various construction projects in the district, especially noting that the final touches were being put on the new Lincoln Elementary School building. Schmidt said the new furniture is in the building, which will be ready for the start of the upcoming 2022-23 school year. There will be a ribbon cutting at the new Lincoln Elementary School at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16. Members of the public will have an opportunity to see the new school. Schmidt also noted that the Field Elementary School building has been completely demolished. The meeting included a presentation of a video that showed drone footage of the demolished building, which is being replaced with a new school.
