Prospect Ave., between Elmhurst University and Wilder Park. An Elmhurst Fourth of July tradition since 2005, the 4-mile race attracts participants from Elmhurst, the Chicago area and multiple states. A Kids 1K for ages 5-12 follows the main event at 8:20 a.m. On-line registration is open for both events at 4on4th.com through race morning at Elmhurst University.

Packet/race bib pickup ahead of race day is available and strongly encouraged at Fleet Feet in Elmhurst on Saturday, July 2 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday, July 3 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Pickup also will be available from 5:45-7 a.m. race morning at Elmhurst University behind the main gate. On-site registration also will be available during these hours, but

T-shirt sizes could be limited or sold out by then.

“We are really looking forward to getting back to how things were before the pandemic,” race director Bob Richards of the Elmhurst Running Club said.

“Hopefully, this year’s race will be a huge step in that direction.”

No race was held in 2020, and the 2021 event featured a capped field of 700 in the 4-mile divided into seven separate waves with no kids race.

A federal judge in Chicago handed down a one-year prison sentence June 21 for a former state senator who once chaired the Senate Labor Committee.

Tom Cullerton, a Villa Park Democrat, pleaded guilty earlier this year to one count of embezzlement for receiving salary and benefits from Teamsters Joint Council 25 as a pur-

ported union organizer even though he admitted to doing little or no work for the union.

Cullerton, 52, was first elected to the General Assembly in 2012 to represent the 23rd District, which at that time spanned a portion of northern DuPage County. He had previously worked as a truck driver and was a member of a local Teamsters union.

‘Cue for a Cause seeks grill masters to compete Bakers, grillers invited to register Plans are in full swing for the 8th annual ‘Cue for a Cause benefitting the Elmhurst Walk-In Assistance Network, and the call is out for all backyard grill masters to come put their skills to the test. Food is tasted by a panel of judges, and contestants will be awarded prizes in ribs, chicken, and sauce categories. A Grand Champion will be named for the best combined score.

Bakers will also have the chance to show their skills, with the second annual pie and cookie contest.

Registration for both competitions is available on the EWAN website, elmhurstwalkin.org. The deadline to sign up to compete is Monday, Aug. 22 for barbecuers and Wednesday, Aug. 31 for bakers.

The barbecue competition provides the focal point for a fun day for the whole family. Three live bands -Simply Sound Live, Lake Effect, and Common Area Maintenance—will play throughout the day.

Adding to the traditional Barbecue Jim’s, Taco Chapultepec will be serving up tacos. And the famous root beer floats will be back as well. Kids will enjoy a magician, an inflatable slide, face painting, balloon twisting and more.

After a year off in 2020 and a limited run in 2021, the race, sponsored annually by the Elmhurst Running Club, is back in full swing and will step off from Elmhurst University on the morning of July 4 at 7:15 a.m., with the Kids 1K at 8:20 a.m.

York St. This new family event, designed for kids and adults with special needs and their families, is brought to you by the Special Kids Day organization and the City of Elmhurst.

Come explore how the City of Elmhurst works. Learn from our firefighters, paramedics, police officers and the public works team. Enjoy a quiet space for story time by the Elmhurst History Museum. Elmhurst’s Mayor and City Council members will take your “vote” to find out some of the City’s favorites!

In partnership with Elmhurst’s Special Kids Day organization, the City of Elmhurst aims to create a unique experience for individuals with special needs; a “City Works” tour to learn how cities operate. This will include information from different departments with demonstrations and hands on activities, public safety tips, and a fun opportunity tailored for individuals with special needs to interact with the city employees and elected officials who provide essential services to the community.

The Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 Board held a special meeting on Tuesday, June 23 at the District 205 Center, 162 S. York St. Board members Jim Collins and Courtenae Trautmann were absent from the meeting, which lasted about 13 minutes.

Board members voted 5-0 during the meeting to approve the hiring of Lori Sweeney as the new principal of Jefferson Elementary School.

She will replace Christina Podraza, who recently announced her resignation. Podraza had been Jefferson’s principal since the start of the 2019-20 school year.

District 205 Superintendent Keisha Campbell noted during the special meeting that the district received 61 applications for the position. Campbell said the district held several candidate screenings to identify the top 10 selected candidates. The district then identified three of those 10 candidates as finalists. The three finalists participated in additional interviews and met with several members of the District 205 community, including teachers and office staff members from Jefferson Elementary School. The finalists also gave a presentation and submitted a writing sample.

Campbell noted that the process to select Jefferson’s principal included numerous reference checks.

Sweeney will begin her new position on Saturday, July 2.

Board members also voted unanimously during the June 23 special meeting to approve the hiring of Elizabeth McDonald as an assistant principal for Edison and Field elementary schools. Campbell noted that the existing position of an assistant principal serving the two school communities was vacant due to a resignation.

Campbell related that McDonald has been a member of the District 205 community since 2005. She has worked in a variety of positions in the district. Most recently, she was an instructional coach at Bryan Middle School.

The board will hold its next regular meeting on July 12.

The Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 Board held a special meeting on Tuesday, June 23 at the District 205 Center, where the Board approved the hire of Lori Sweeney as principal of Jefferson School.

Those on the search committee said Sweeney “consistently stood out as the top candidate.”

Bringing 20 years of experience including a diverse portfolio which includes positions both locally and nationally, Lori Sweeney’s career emerged with attention to improving students’ outcomes, fostering teamwork, creating a collaborative culture and achieving student-focused goals.

Sweeney began her career as a kindergarten teacher, quickly rising as a leader, becoming a Master Teacher and then principal in just over a year before then entering into coaching and strategy.

Most recently, Sweeney has worked as an Instructional Support Leader for one of Chicago’s highest performing network of schools.

Prior to this she was an executive director at The Achievement Network (ANet) where she managed a team of coaches.

Under her leadership they saw gains of over 1.5 times in reading attainment and over double the gains in math attainment on the NWEA MAP. ANet is a nonprofit organization with a mission of being dedicated to the idea that every child deserves an excellent education and the opportuni-

Assault, battery June 19 Kevin Kaysing, 39, of Elmhurst, was charged with assault, aggravated assault and five counts of resisting arrest in the 400 block of S. Argyle at 8:20 p.m. Police said a reporting officer met with a complainant who reported Kaysing threatened to harm his wife.

According to police, Kaysing became uncooperative and threatened to harm an Elmhurst paramedic.

June 17 Police said officers responded to the 300 block of S. Route 83 at 7:23 p.m. for the report of a suspect with a knife. The complainant reported the suspect brandished a knife and threatened to kill his mother. The suspect was taken into custody and transported by medics to Elmhurst Hospital for a mental evaluation.

Criminal damage June 19-June 20 Officers responded to a business in the 700 block of N. Industrial at 9:16 a.m. for the report of criminal damage to property. The complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) used pieces of cinder block to damage the windshields of three semi tractors.

June 18 Police said that subsequent to an extra patrol in the 100 block of N. Addison at 8:52 a.m., a reporting officer observed several missing or damaged fire extinguishers on the stairwells.

June 15-June 16 A complainant in the 700 block of S. Fairview related that an unknown suspect(s) lit fireworks on the corner of his front yard damaging a flowerpot.

Grant at 11:59 p.m. who reported the suspect made threatening statements towards fellow employees. The reporting officer spoke with the suspect who denied making any threats towards employees. June 18 A 47-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 300 block of N. Elm at 9:48 p.m. Police said a reporting officer met with a victim who reported the suspect pulled him out of his vehicle and punched him.

Fernando Rojo Murillo, 35, of Stone Park, was charged with DUI in the 1000 block of N. York at 11:33 p.m.

June 17 Bradley Crook, 19, of Elmhurst, was charged with zero tolerance, consumption of alcohol by a minor, possession of false identification and possession of tobacco by minor subsequent to a vehicle crash in the 300 block of N. Ferndale at 10:55 p.m.

Michael Rice, 34, of Darien, was charged with DUI-drugs and possession of a controlled substance near Route 83 and North at 7:10 p.m. Police said Rice was found to be driving under the influence of drugs and in possession of a controlled substance.

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported two incidents of fleeing and eluding during which the driver of a vehicle fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.

Theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/ deceptivepractice/ obstruction/robbery June 21 A victim in the 300 block of N. Elm was contacted by an unknown suspect purporting to be with a computer repair company. The unknown suspect stated he had removed money from the victim’s bank account and demanded gift cards to have the money returned. The victim did not comply with the demands and verified her account was in order.

June 19 Landon Paul Waddell, 36 (homeless), was charged with retail theft and obstructing identification at a gas station in the 600 block of W. North at 6:55 p.m. According to police, a complainant related after he denied Waddell free merchandise, Waddell stole a sandwich and left the store without paying for the item.

Officers located Waddell, who allegedly provided the officers with a false name.

June 17 Identity theft was reported in the 500 block of W. Lake at 1:22 p.m. A victim related an unknown suspect used her credit card to make fraudulent purchases.

June 14 Attempted identity theft was reported at Atrium Way at 11:07 a.m. A victim related that unknown suspect(s) claiming to be from Citibank gathered personal information from the victim and gained access to her account attempting to make a transfer. The account was subsequently closed and there was no money loss.

May 24 Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of E. First at 3:59 p.m. A victim related that an unknown suspect used her personal information to open a fraudulent credit card. She contacted the bank, advised them the account was fraudulent, and closed the account.

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported no incidents of identity theft in which a victim’s personal information was used to fraudulently file for unemployment benefits.

Warrant arrest

June 22 Police said that subsequent to a traffic altercation on April 29, Joseph Antonacci, 61, of Oakbrook Terrace, exited his vehicle, approached the victim’s car, struck the driver’s side window with his hand, and spat on the victim’s vehicle. Subsequent to investigation, Antonacci was identified as the suspect in this incident. An arrest warrant was issued for assault on June 17, according to police. Antonacci turned himself into the police department on June 21 and was charged with assault.

June 18 Police said that subsequent to an investigation, a warrant was issued for Travis States, 31, of Chicago. On the above date, States turned himself in on the warrant, and was charged with identity theft. Police said States used a victim’s personal information in an attempt to fraudulently purchase a vehicle at a local auto dealership last October. When the suspect was asked to provide a physical driver’s license, he allegedly left the dealership.

New law will streamline access to mental health care

Residents in Illinois will have additional access to mental and behavioral health specialists, under a new state law, Senate Bill 3617, with support from state Sen. Suzy Glowiak Hilton.

“This effort will improve opportunities for residents needing mental or behavioral health care and workers willing and able to provide that care,” said Glowiak Hilton (D-Western Springs). “With this law, Illinois aims to reduce barriers for potential patients, so that all who seek mental and behavioral health care could get better access.”

In Illinois, there are only 14 behavioral health care professionals for every 10,000 Illinois residents. Because of this gap, many people are forced to wait longer for essential treatment or forego health care entirely.

To address these issues, Senate Bill 3617 expands the workforce by accelerating the process for out-of-state clinicians to receive licensure in Illinois and streamlining requirements for social workers, professional counselors, and clinical psychologists with recently inactive licenses.

Additionally, it includes initiatives to support diversity in the mental health field, establishes tax credits and many more provisions, all of which will encourage more quality, accessible care to those seeking assistance.

Mazzochi appointed to advisory board on opioid addiction

Will advise on allocation of $760 million

State Rep. Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) announced her recent appointment to the advisory board created to recommend how to effectively distribute millions in settlement funds to target the opioid epidemic in Illinois.

Earlier this year, the three largest pharmaceutical distribution companies and Johnson & Johnson reached a national settlement based on state opioid lawsuits. Illinois will receive $760 million in settlement money.

“Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly given the social and economic upheaval over the last two years, opioid deaths are on the rise nationally and in Illinois,” Rep. Mazzochi said.

Opioid deaths in Illinois reached a new high of 3,013 in 2021, a 2.3% increase from 2020 and a 35.8% increase from 2019. “Thankfully we saw 10 fewer deaths in DuPage county in 2021 when compared to 2020, reflecting the hard work done by local officials and first responders.” Over 200 overdoses were reversed through the DuPage Narcan Program in 2021.

In addition to the $760 million upfront settlement for the state, DuPage County will receive $ 10 million dollars.

“Transparency in the process and identifying the most effective use of these funds are tantamount to ensure justice for past victims and their families as well as doing whatever we can to prevent more victims,” Rep. Mazzochi said.

by House Republican Leader Jim Durkin as the single representative on the board for the House Republican Caucus. Rep. Mazzochi was chosen based on her background in science, her career in the private sector as a lawyer working to bring more affordable drugs to the market, and the particular harm the growing opioid crisis has caused to families in DuPage. In February 2021, she hosted state and local experts in an online discussion educating the community on substance abuse, including its prevention and treatment. Registration now open to vaccinate kids 6 months and younger The DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) has to announce that COVID-19 vaccine registration is now open for children between 6 months and 5 years old.

This follows the authorization of COVID-19 vaccines for this age group, which were recently recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The COVID-19 vaccination clinic is located at DCHD’s Central Public Health Center in Wheaton.

Appointments are now available.

Residents seeking an appointment sooner may be able to locate one closest to their home using vaccines.gov to identify a site administering the vaccine or contact their child’s primary healthcare provider.

Calling on President Biden to invoke Defense Production Act to reduce gas prices

By U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi I recently introduced legislation calling on President Joe Biden to invoke the Defense Production Act to expand our oil refinery capacity to eliminate the refining bottleneck that is currently contributing to high gas prices.

While fuel prices have been primarily driven by high crude oil prices in the past, the most recent spike in gas prices is in large part a product of a lack of refining capacity as oil demand has returned to pre-pandemic levels but global refining capacity has declined by 3,000,000 barrels per day and U.S. capacity alone has declined by one million barrels per day.

This shortage of oil refining capacity is the result of an unprecedented wave of refinery closures as demand for fuel plummeted during the early part of the pandemic. However, despite the current record gas prices and near historic profits, oil companies have shown little interest in restarting refineries that were shuttered during the pandemic.

While the White House has issued letters to the industry pressing for increased production, my new legislation urges the President to take additional action by using the authorities granted to him by the Defense Production Act to provide targeted technical and financial assistance to restart certain idled refineries for a limited time.

My resolution’s focus on a short-term increase in refining capacity is to address the current price spike facing consumers without making long-term

investments in refining capacity that would make us more dependent on fossil fuels as we’re transitioning to a greener economy and renewable energy sources.

Through using the Defense Production Act to make these targeted, bridge investments in our refinery infrastructure, we can relieve the burden of high gas prices while transitioning our economy to a lower-cost, lowercarbon future.

Celebrating Juneteenth We came together as a nation this month to commemorate the second-ever federally recognized Juneteenth holiday, a day long celebrated by African Americans as the day slavery officially ended in the United States.

On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas to find many African Americans still enslaved despite President Abraham Lincoln issuing the Emancipation Proclamation more than two years earlier. General Granger announced that slavery had ended, and the Union had been restored.

That day became known as Juneteenth, a mixture of the words June and nineteen, and was celebrated throughout Texas and the South for over 150 years before finally being recognized as a federal holiday last year.

It was an honor to join Schaumburg’s Juneteenth Celebration during the weekend to reflect and celebrate the legacy of the holiday and the work that remains to form a more perfect, more equal union.

Conroy reacts to Roe v. Wade overturn With Friday’s Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, state Rep. An unelected Supreme Court, composed mostly of men, has stripped away decades of settled law in the greatest attack on women’s rights of our lifetime. Today’s news is shocking and heartbreaking.

ly supported efforts that will ensure abortion continues to be safe, legal and accessible despite this terrible decision. This vigilance was critical, and why we need to continue to prioritize efforts to strengthen our laws on this issue.

DCTP Fund grants more than $1 million to area agencies Recipients affect food insecurity, housing, mental health, substance use

On Tuesday, June 21, the DuPage Community Transformation Partnership (DCTP) Fund awarded more than $1 million in Immediate Intervention grants to 16 social service not-for-profit organizations serving DuPage County residents in the areas of food insecurity, housing instability, mental health and substance use disorder.

Among the organizations selected to receive funding to combat food insecurity are the Elmhurst-Yorkfield Food Pantry, which will receive $20,000; the Northern Illinois Food Bank, $100,000; the People’s Resource Center, $60,000; and others. Among the agencies slated to receive housing instability grants are DuPage PADS,

$80,000; and Metropolitan Family Services DuPage, which will receive $25,000. Among the agencies which will be granted funds from the Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder are Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley, $60,000; Gateway Foundation, $74,135; and Metropolitan Family Services DuPage, $75,000.

“These grants provide the opportunity for transformative change for our community,” said DuPage Foundation president & CEO Dave McGowan. “Through these grants and our partnership with the County, we are routing much-needed assistance to many of our notfor-profit partners that have been searching for solutions to meet the

To be eligible to apply for a grant, an organization must be a 501(c)(3) social service not-for-profit providing assistance in the areas of food insecurity, housing instability, mental health, or substance use disorder that meets at least one of the following criteria: • Have more than 50 percent of its total clients be DuPage County residents; or • Provide services in facilities physically located in DuPage County; or • Have a DuPage County advisory board.

West Nile virus reported in seven Illinois counties so far in 2022 The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is reminding the public that along with summer, Mosquito Season is now under way in Illinois and that positive batches of West Nile virus have been reported in seven counties around the state.

The reminder comes as public health officials around the country are highlighting the importance of taking protective action to “Fight the Bite” during National Mosquito Control Awareness Week.

While no human cases of West Nile virus have been reported in Illinois so far this year, there were 64 human cases (which are significantly under-reported) and five deaths attributed to the disease in the state in 2021.

“West Nile virus is a serious illness, and we want to remind everyone to protect themselves from mosquito bites at this time of year when so many of us are spending more time outdoors,” said IDPH Acting

Director Amaal Tokars. “The most important things we can do are to wear insect repellent if we are spending time outside and eliminate standing water where mosquitos breed around our homes. These precautions are especially important for those with weakened immune systems” The first mosquitoes to test positive for West Nile virus in Illinois in 2022 were reported on May 24 in DuPage County (city of Roselle).

Since then, six more counties—

Cook, Will, Logan, Edgar, Macoupin and Washington—have reported batches of mosquitos that tested positive for West Nile virus.

In 2021, the first mosquitoes to test positive for West Nile were collected on June 9 in Skokie. Last year, 48 counties in Illinois reported a West Nile virus positive mosquito batch, bird, horse, and /or human case

Monitoring for West Nile virus in Illinois includes laboratory tests for mosquito batches, dead crows, blue jays, robins and other perching birds, as well as testing sick horses and humans with West Nile virus-like symptoms. People who see a sick or dying crow, blue jay, robin or other perching bird should contact their local health department, which will determine if the bird will be picked up for testing.

West Nile virus is transmitted through the bite of a Culex pipiens mosquito, commonly called a house mosquito, that has picked up the virus by feeding on an infected bird. Common symptoms include fever, nausea, headache and muscle aches. Symptoms may last from a few days to a few weeks. However, four out of five people infected with West Nile virus will not show any symptoms. In rare cases, severe illness including meningitis, encephalitis, or even death, can occur. People older than 60 and individuals with weakened immune systems are at higher risk for severe illness from West Nile virus.

IDPH encourages the public to Fight the Bite by practicing the three “R’s”: reduce, repel, and report.

Reduce—Make sure doors and windows have tight-fitting screens.

Repair or replace screens that have tears or other openings. Try to keep doors and windows shut. Eliminate, or refresh each week, all sources of standing water where mosquitoes can breed, including water in bird baths, ponds, flowerpots, wading pools, old tires, and any other containers.

Repeal—When outdoors, wear shoes and socks, long pants and a light-colored, long-sleeved shirt, and apply an EPA-registered insect repellent that contains DEET, picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus, or IR 3535 according to label instructions.

Consult a physician before using repellents on infants.

Report—Report locations where you see water sitting stagnant for more than a week such as roadside ditches, flooded yards, and similar locations that may produce mosquitoes. The local health department or city government may be able to add larvicide to the water, which will kill any mosquito larvae.

York boys track team excels athletically and academically Dukes place more than 30 on all-academic conference team

The York boys track and field team got it done both athletically and academically this spring. On the postseason front, the Dukes qualified three relays and 1,600 runner Ethan Summer for the Class 3A state finals meet in Charleston. The 800 relay team featured Luke Mailander, Kelly Watson, Joey Valeski and Leon Glennon, while the 1,600 team had Mailander, Valeski, Aidan Hill and Emmet Doyle on it. The 3,200 relay team featured Hill, Jackson Geiger, Garrett Schwan and Summer.

York took fourth in the West Suburban Conference Silver Division and had a host of athletes earn all-WSC Silver honors. The 3,200 relay team of Doyle, Colin Lewandowski, Simon Hildy and Schwan took second in conference, while the 400 relay of Valeski, Glennon, Mailander and Watson placed third.

Jeff Luka was third in the 3,200 run, while Antonio Gianni was fifth in the 110 high hurdles, while Connor Lawrence was sixth in the same event. Watson earned all-conference honors in the 100 after taking sixth.

Hill was third in the 800 run, while

Geiger was fourth. Valeski was fourth in the 400. Gianni earned all-conference honors in the 300 intermediate hurdles. Summer was the conference runner-up in the 1,600, while Mailander was fourth in the 200 and Valeski fifth in the 200.

The 1,600 relay team of Hill, Doyle, Lewandowski and Geiger finished second. Cole Ostendorf was sixth in the shot put to earn all-conference honors. Payton Noble was sixth in the discus. Caden Schaer was third in the pole vault, while Sam Birnbaum was fourth. Noble was fourth in the high jump, while Matthew Barton

was fifth in the triple.

In addition to the athletes that qualified for state out of the sectional, Doyle was an all-sectional pick after a third place showing in the 800. Hildy also was all-sectional with a thirdplace finish in the 1,600.

Elmhurst Cougars and Elmhurst Youth Baseball announce merger IC Catholic Prep names new athletic director

Elmhurst Youth Baseball and Elmhurst Cougars Baseball and Softball announced last week that the two youth sports organizations are merging. Since its founding in the late 1980s, EYB has built strong in-house and Little League-sanctioned baseball programs, along with its outstanding Extreme travel baseball program, it noted. Elmhurst Cougars Baseball and Softball is one of the oldest and most accomplished travel sports organizations with roots dating back to 1992, that group added.

By combining forces with the Cougars, EYB gains an equally strong travel softball brand to bolster the in-house softball program it started several years ago, the two groups explained.

“Together, EYB and the Cougars aim to raise the competitive bar,” said Adam Kanouse, president of the Elmhurst Cougars and Bobby Smith, president of EYB. “We share common goals to field winning teams at all age levels and provide even more opportunities for our community’s kids to learn, grow and excel through high-level instruction and play.”

Tryouts for the 2022-2023 Cougars softball season begin July 12, while tryouts for EYB travel baseball begin July 10. The two groups said they look forward to working together and working with the communities to provide the best possible experiences for kids.

Since 2005, Haas has served as a history teacher and head baseball coach at DePaul College Prep, earning more than 250 wins and numerous regional and sectional titles on the baseball diamond. In 2017, Haas become the associate athletic director at DePaul Prep.

Kern also had high praise for hurdler Gianni. “Antonio was a near state qualifier in the 300 hurdles,” he pointed out. Kern said he was most impressed with the team’s desire to improve and its willingness to compete.

“All of them most improved on their desire to succeed,” he said. “This was evident in training and racing. They desired success more than comfort.”

In terms of the 2023 season? “We will be very inexperienced in the distance events and pole vault,” Kern noted. “We are rising in all areas of the sprints.”

Timothy Christian boys volleyball team makes further progress DeBoer, Roozeboom earn all-conference awards

The progress arrow continues to point upward for the Timothy Christian boys volleyball team. The Trojans, with one of the newer programs in the area, went 12-9 this spring and finished fifth in Metro Suburban Conference action with a 3-4 mark.

The Trojans lost 25-23, 25-18 to Wheaton St. Francis in the first round of the state playoffs.

Recently graduated senior Ryan DeBoer and senior-to-be outside hitter Shane Roozeboom were named to the all-conference team, while sophomore middle blocker Jon Tameling was named to the all-conference honorable mention squad.

DeBoer was named the Timothy team MVP and almost won the conference MVP award, finishing second in that voting. He led the team in kills (257), digs (206), service aces (41) and hitting percentage (.291). “Ryan has been an integral part of the high
