The Elmhurst Art Museum is honored to announce the official dedication of Sistine Touch, a major public artwork installed on the south side of the museum adjacent to Wilder Park. Created by acclaimed artist Bob Emser, the sculpture was generously gifted to the museum by Marcia and Robert Goltermann and Sally and Raymond Allen, passionate arts advocates and longtime supporters of the institution. The dedication ceremony, held on Friday, May 30, brought together museum leadership, civic representatives, community members, and family and friends of the donors to celebrate the legacy of their generosity. Pictured (left to right) at the dedication ceremony are: Marcia Goltermann, Betsy Goltermann, Julie Allen, Pam Allen Hunter, Bonnie Allen, Russell Allen and Elmhurst Art Museum Executive Director Allison Peters Quinn. Emser, an Illinois artist, created Sistine Touch as a powerful reference to the pioneering spirit of aviation and nautical history. “This is more than a sculpture—it’s a tribute to the enduring vision and love that the Goltermann and Allen families have for this museum and for public art,” said Peters Quinn. “Their gift ensures that future generations will encounter art while visiting Wilder Park and the Elmhurst Art Museum. We are deeply grateful.” Robert Goltermann, who passed away in 2021, and Raymond Allen, who passed away in 2023, were beloved members of the museum community and staunch believers in the transformative power of art. Their gift of Sistine Touch reflects a shared belief in making art accessible, visible, and meaningful to all.
