The IC Catholic Prep football team ran its postseason winning streak to seven games in a row after a 29-16 victory against host Peotone in second-round action of the Class 2A state playoffs. IC Catholic Prep (10-1) heads to the state quarterfinals once again either Friday or Saturday where it will host No. 8 seed Wilmington (10-1) with a berth in the Class 3A semifinals on the line. Wilmington upset No. 1 seed Farmington in the second round. IC Catholic Prep is the No. 5 seed on the top half of the Class 3A bracket. In the triumph over Peotone on the road, quarterback CJ West completed 11 of 17 passes for 194 yards and one touchdown. IC Catholic Prep presented a balanced offensive attack with its ground game amassing 139 yards yards on only 29 carries (4.8 yards per carry). Steven Crady and Cooke each had one pass deflection. Eatman and Khalil Saunders each had a two-point conversion. Eatman’s was a rushing conversion, while Saunders had a pass-reception conversion. If IC Catholic Prep wins its quarterfinal game against Wilmington it would either face No. 3 Byron (11-0) or No. 2 Williamsville (11-0). If Williamsville wins the game against Byron, it would head to Elmhurst for the semifinals. If Byron wins, IC Catholic Prep would head to Byron based on both teams having hosted two playoff games and Byron having the higher seed.
