Jolly Old St. Nick concert draws crowd to YPC
Community gathers on Wilder Mansion steps to celebrate diversity

On Dec. 6, more than 200 people braved the frigid evening temperature in Wilder Park to attend a candlelight vigil organized by Elmhurst residents Susan Warren, Lisa O’Halloran, Vicky Amaro and Laura Hamilton. Gathering on the steps of Wilder Mansion under the banner “LOVE LIVES HERE,” the vigil was an opportunity to demonstrate support for individuals of all races, religions, orientations and countries of origins, and to reaffirm that Elmhurst is a community where all are welcome. “The goal of the vigil is to celebrate diversity in a peaceful celebration of our differences and all that binds us together as a community,” stated organizer Susan Warren, who was the first to address the crowd. She rallied the crowd by saying, “When Elmhurst values something, then Elmhurst shows up!” Vigil attendees were offered homemade cookies, donated by Cookies for Peace, and hot chocolate, donated by Pilot Pete’s Coffee and Treats, as they enjoyed
