The win pushed IC Catholic Prep to 12-0 and sends it to the Class 4A state semifinals Saturday at home against Richmond-Burton (11-1), which was a 17-14 winner on the road against Coal City in the quarterfinals. The other semifinal contest pits No. 4 Rochester (11-1) at No. 3 Bishop McNamara (11-1). McNamara’s only loss this season was a 21-20 setback in Elmhurst to IC Catholic Prep in Week 4. In the high-scoring affair against Marengo, the Knights led 15-13 after the first quarter and 29-20 heading into intermission. The Knights outscored Marengo 6-0 in the third quarter and 14-7 in the final stanza. On the ground, the Knights rolled up an impressive 422 yards on 42 carries with standout sophomore Kyle Franklin piling up 338 yards rushing on 31 carries. He also scored six touchdowns. Through 12 games, Franklin has run for 1,961 yards on 208 carries (9.4 yards per carry) and has 32 rushing touchdowns. IC Catholic Prep averaged 305.8 rushing yards per game.
