City Council elects Minority Report on Roberto’s issue Key issue: who pays for landscaping to buffer residents from parking lots?

By Dee Longfellow FOR THE ELMHURST INDEPENDENT

“The Minority Report sounds like it was written by an attorney.” Kusich went on to say that Plan B of the Minority Report was not the same Plan B that was presented to the Zoning & Planning Commission (ZPC). He pointed out several discrepancies. “We oppose the application because there is no evidence of need, no impact studies have been done, and there seems to be no concern for quality of life,” he said.

The City Council meeting held on Monday, Oct. 4 began with almost an hour of comments during public forum, most of whom were the neighbors of Roberto’s Restaurant, where an applicant is seeking conditional use permits to build parking lots at 283 W. Eggleston and 272-276 W. Eggleston. Among the speakers, many of whom lived on Eggleston, was Michael Kusich, with Wild Trace townhomes, which abut the site. Resident calls out Polomsky “We’ve read both the Majority and Resident Michael Novak called the Minority Reports and we agree out 3rd Ward Ald. Dannee Polomsky with the Majority Report,” he said.

On Saturday, Oct. 2, the York High School football team met Glenbard West on the Hilltoppers’ own field where the Dukes were able to defeat the long-time rivals by a score of 12-10. It was a nail-biter until the end, when the Dukes scored a field goal in final

seconds of the game. This means that in the West Suburban Conference Silver Division, York has gone 6-0 for the season and is now automatically slated for the playoffs. It was the Dukes’ first win over the Hilltoppers since 2007. See the full story inside this issue in Sports.
