Woman’s body found near Villa Park Metra station STAFF REPORT
The body of a 69-year-old woman was found near the Villa Park Metra station recently. According to Michael Gillis, Metra’s director of communications, Metra Police received a call from Villa Park Police at approximately 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 9, reporting that a woman had been found unresponsive
near the train station. The station is located at 349 N. Ardmore Ave. Gillis stated that the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. He said that he did not have any other details, and that the case remains under investigation. Villa Park Police Chief Michael Rivas also stated that the case is under investigation. He said the Villa Park
Police Department is assisting Metra, which is leading the investigation. Rivas noted that the village’s police department posted an Oct. 11 update on social media about the death. That update stated that Villa Park officers had responded with Metra Police to the area at about 6:45 a.m. on Oct. 9, for an adult female deceased body that was located by the railroad
tracks. The police department’s update stated that some earlier comments about the incident that had been circulating on social media were false. Those comments reportedly stated that firearm shell cases were recovered at the scene. “No firearms were involved in this incident,” stated the police depart-
ment’s Oct. 11 update, which also related that details of the incident were initially withheld due to circumstances involving the ongoing investigation. “At no time was there any danger to the public,” the department’s update stated. There were no further updates at press time.
